About the team:

Our B2B team is building the foundation for how organizations use Goodnotes at scale. Goodnotes is no longer just for students. We're seizing a massive market opportunity: the B2B sector. Think knowledge workers – that's a market 10-20 times larger than the student market, with bigger budgets and even bigger potential. We're talking about changing how professionals work, collaborate, and create.

The team is distributed across Europe and Asia and you are welcome to work remotely from anywhere, with at least four hours of overlap with your closest collaborators. You can also join us in our Hong Kong or London office.

About the role:

We’re not just adding features; we’re crafting solutions. We’re talking about transforming how sales teams manage leads, how marketing teams brainstorm campaigns, and how consultants deliver insights. As the Head of B2B Design at Goodnotes, you will be leading a team of designers across four different product areas of Goodnotes. You will be driving the design direction, building solutions, testing ideas and creating B2B workflows. You will be working closely with, and reporting directly to our CEO and Founder, Steven Chan.

This is the role for you, if you’re excited to work on the things listed below:
  • Lead and conduct discovery work efforts to understand current workflows and user pain points.
  • Oversee design solutions that improve B2B user workflows, driving shorter sales cycles, higher conversion rates, and better retention.
  • Identify gaps in the current design process and resources, proposing and implementing improvements.
  • Drive experiments, prototyping, and testing to validate design ideas and optimize user experience.
  • Manage and mentor design teams across B2B, Marketplace, Monetization and Classroom verticals. B2B will be your main focus, while the other verticals will be in a supporting role.
  • Partner with product leadership, engineers, and product managers to align on design initiative, define a rolling roadmap and long-term direction while ensuring a high bar of quality of the Goodnotes design language
  • Help foster our design culture with knowledge-sharing and peer support
The skills you will need to be successful in the above:
  • 15+ years of experience in product design, with at least 5+ years in a design leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in B2B SaaS design, particularly with integrations and unlocking new solutions through them.
  • Proven PLG experience in SaaS.
  • Experience designing for cross-platform experiences
  • Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset to guide teams effectively.
  • Proven track record in experimentation, testing, and prototyping within B2B contexts.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, capable of managing multiple teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Familiarity with growth and monetization design strategies.
  • A great storyteller comfortable explaining rationale and getting buy-in from stakeholders on product vision

Even if you don’t meet all the criteria listed above, we would still love to hear from you! GoodNotes places a lot of value on learning and development and will support your growth if needed.

What else would help you, but is not required

  • Experience with workplace collaboration tools, or team productivity software
  • Familiarity with account management, compliance, or enterprise-level access systems
  • Exposure to design system thinking in multi-role or multi-tenant environments
  • Experience in growth optimisation; understanding drop offs, bottlenecks, and closing gaps to reach performance goals. Ability to use data to identify and prioritise small, high impact improvements to make the experience more seamless

Even if you do not meet every requirement listed, we would love to hear from you. We value curiosity, ownership, and the ability to learn quickly.

The interview process:
  • An introductory call with someone from our talent acquisition team. They want to hear more about your background, what you are looking for, and why you’d like to join Goodnotes
  • A video call with our B2B team lead
  • A portfolio review with our Head of Design (Foundation+AI)
  • A deep dive call with our CEO & Founder, Steven Chan
  • A live assessment with our CEO & Founder, Steven Chan
  • A Q&A session with designers you’d be managing

What’s in it for you:
  • Meaningful equity in a profitable tech-startup.
  • Budget for things like noise cancelling headphones, setting up your home office, personal development, professional training, and health & wellness.
  • Sponsored visits to our Hong Kong or London office every 2 years.
  • Company wide annual offsite.
  • Flexible working hours and location.
  • Medical insurance for you and your dependents.

Note: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including verification of employment, education, and criminal records.

By submitting your application, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Candidate Privacy Notice, which provides important information about the data we collect during the application process. You can find it here.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
