Hi, I'm Kas, VP & Chief of Staff here at Jane. I lead several cross-functional initiatives at Jane, including our Business Intelligence / Data & Analytics function. Data is foundational to how Jane operates and, as we scale, the bar for what our data and systems function delivers is rising fast. We're hiring a Head of Data & Systems to set the vision for how we build, govern, and surface data across Jane, and to lead us into an AI-native future where clean, well-instrumented data is the foundation for ingestion, automation, and downstream intelligence.
This is a senior leadership role with two organizations reporting up: our Analytics & Business Intelligence team, and a new Director of Business Systems (covering business tools, integrations, and data ingestion infrastructure). You'll own the full picture: from how data is captured at the system layer, through how it's modeled and governed, to how it's surfaced to decision-makers across Jane. You'll shape the architecture, set the standards, and grow a team that operates as true thought partners to the business.
If you're energized by setting vision, building for scale, and shaping a function that will define how a fast-growing company makes decisions, this role was built for you.
What Impact We're Looking for You to MakeSet the data architecture vision for Jane — define what great looks like for our data stack, governance model, and architecture to support Jane’s AI transformation, with a clear point of view on how we prepare for AI ingestion, automation, and increasingly intelligent downstream applications.
Drive Jane's data roadmap — prioritize across data transformation & modeling; governance, quality & cataloging; and analytics, BI & self-service. Make clear trade-offs and sequence the work in a way that compounds over time.
Build for self-service — design and roll out the standards, tooling, documentation, and enablement that let business teams answer their own questions, while protecting trust and quality at the source.
Shift our data & insights operating model — as self-serve grows, evolve the organization from a transactional and reactive role to driving deeper business analysis and insights
Establish data governance and standards — define ownership models, quality SLAs, cataloging practices, and the governance forums needed to enforce standards as Jane scales. Make standardization stick.
Lead and develop two organizations — directly manage the BI & Analytics leadership team and the new Director of Business Systems. Hire, mentor, and raise the bar on leadership quality, performance culture, and ownership across both groups.
Influence across the executive layer — partner with functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Customer, Marketing, and Finance to align on shared metrics, instrumentation needs, and the data investments that unlock their strategies.
Be a steward of trust — make sure the data Jane runs on is accurate, well-documented, and defensible, and that the people consuming it know when and how to trust it.
15+ years of professional experience in data, analytics, or data engineering, including 5+ years leading and developing teams (manager of managers strongly preferred), ideally in a B2B SaaS or similarly complex software environment.
Demonstrated experience setting and executing a multi-year data architecture and governance vision — you've led the move from ad-hoc reporting toward a governed, modeled, scalable data platform.
Strong technical foundation — you've made the architectural calls on modern data stacks (warehouse, transformation, BI, cataloging, governance tooling) and can hold your own in technical depth with senior engineers and architects. You have hands-on experience with the modern data stack tooling Jane uses (or comparable equivalents) — Snowflake, dbt, BI tooling, data cataloging and observability platforms.
Experience designing for scale — you've built data systems and team operating models that hold up as the company doubles, and you know what breaks first when they don't.
A clear point of view on AI's role in the data function — how AI changes ingestion, instrumentation, modeling, self-service, and the skills your team needs to develop.
Track record of driving standardization and enforcing standards — you've implemented governance frameworks, ownership models, and quality bars that became the new standard, even when it required hard conversations.
Exceptional influence and alignment-building skills — you can sell a long-term architectural direction to executive stakeholders, get buy-in across functions, and bring the org along on decisions that may be unpopular in the short term.
Demonstrated ability to build out a new operating model and shift culture — you've coached analysts and analytics leaders, and have reset org expectations to a new data operating model
Excellent communication — you can move fluidly between executive narrative and technical depth, and you know which mode the moment calls for.
If you don't meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we'd still love to hear from you.
