About Filmhub? 🎬

Filmhub is a global, all rights, film & TV distributor. Leveraging decades of industry expertise and a legacy of billions of dollars in global box office, we distribute unlimited opportunity to the storytellers, creatives, and makers who drive our industry.

Filmhub was founded by world-renowned composer and producer Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator) and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Alan d’Escragnolle (Square, Intuit) and funded by the top investors in tech & entertainment including a16z & 8VC.

Pairing a global network of strategic relationships with cutting-edge technology, we represent the industry’s leaders, from producers of global blockbusters to Oscar legends, festival darlings, cinema auteurs, and indie heroes.

What's the opportunity? 🤔

Filmhub is transforming how films reach audiences around the world. We’re a distributor powered by top tech—built for today’s rights holders: filmmakers, distributors, and catalog owners who deserve more access, transparency, and control.

We reject “that’s the way it is” thinking and build systems that put creatives and rights holders first. As we scale our catalog and partnerships, we need a Head of Content Operations to lead the team that ensures every film meets technical standards, passes QC, and gets delivered with precision.

This is a highly cross-functional role: you’ll collaborate with our co-founders and work closely across Operations, Product, Engineering, and Partnerships to build systems that scale with speed and quality.

What big questions will I answer? 💡
  • How do we scale film delivery 10x without sacrificing quality or speed?

  • What systems, tools, and documentation will make our team faster and more consistent?

  • How can we better support filmmakers and channel partners throughout the asset pipeline?

  • Where are the bottlenecks, and how do we remove them without adding red tape?

  • What do we need to build—or stop doing—to enable best-in-class ops at global scale?

What will I be doing? 🚀
  • Lead and grow a global team across Channel Operations and Filmmaker/Distributor Operations

  • Design and document scalable systems for ingest, QC, metadata, and delivery

  • Build workflows using tools like Notion, Airtable, Zapier, and Google Workspace

  • Define and track KPIs to measure and improve operational performance

  • Collaborate with technical teammates to improve asset quality and specs

  • Partner with Product to shape internal tools that make our workflows faster and easier

  • Support our streaming partners by ensuring on-time, spec-perfect deliveries

  • Act as both a coach and a player—leading from the front while mentoring your team

What skills do I need? 📖
  • 6+ years of experience, including 2+ in operations leadership at a fast-paced startup

  • Strong track record of designing systems that scale—playbooks, automations, SOPs

  • Analytical and data-driven; you use metrics to drive clarity and improvement

  • Excellent at cross-functional work with Product, Engineering, and Sales

  • Comfortable in ambiguity and obsessed with clarity—process, docs, expectations

  • Familiarity with media specs, codecs, captioning, or localization a plus—but not required

  • Clear communicator, structured thinker, decisive operator

SQL requirement (don’t let this stop you from applying!)

SQL is essential for success at Filmhub—it enables you to answer your own questions, make data-driven decisions, and advance quickly regardless of your primary function. Learning SQL is one of the best investments you can make in your career, and it sets you apart for nearly any role in today’s data-driven world.

While SQL skills are required for this role, we’re happy to invest in strong candidates who need to learn. During the interview process, we’ll:

  • Cover the cost of a SQL training course if needed

  • Give you time to complete relevant modules

  • Test your SQL knowledge before extending an offer—we’re not expecting an expert, just a solid foundation and a willingness to learn

Current SQL knowledge is a plus, but a fast-learning mindset matters most. Those who embrace SQL at Filmhub tend to grow faster and operate more independently.

How can I stand out? 📣
  • You’ve scaled a content or ops team in a startup, marketplace, or SaaS business

  • You’ve worked in media or film operations—especially with streaming partners

  • You’ve managed async, international, or contract-heavy teams

  • You’ve built internal tools or automations using no-code tools or lightweight scripting

  • You love giving creatives more power and control

At Filmhub, we take a transparent, structured approach to compensation. Offers are based on market data, your experience, location, and how the role fits within our leveling framework. Compensation includes base salary, equity, and benefits, with clear opportunities for growth. We make our entire compensation philosophy, levels, and salary ranges available for anyone to view—because we believe transparency builds trust. Learn more about how we approach compensation.

Filmhub, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to age, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status. We will not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on any of these characteristics.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
