Job Description

Head of Commercial Events and Operations – Philips IGTD (United States- Remote)

As the Head of Commercial Events and Operations, you will be responsible for designing and executing a data-driven, customer-first, event strategy that drives engagement and impact across the Philips Image Guided Therapy Devices (IGTD) business.

Your role:

  • Craft the strategic direction and drive the day-to-day operations of a full commercial events portfolio including more than 80 internal meetings (including flagship gatherings such as the National Sales & Training Meeting and President’s Club), roughly 200 Medical Education engagements, and over 225 tradeshows each year. In partnership with senior leadership and heads of marketing, you will set the standard for how we direct investments, design events, and engage with the market and our customers.
  • Create a system to direct our investments, identify impacts of our shows, and manage complex, cross-business reporting so we know every dollar drives commercial impact.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a talented team of 11 events professionals while collaborating with the Key Opinion Leader and Society Engagement team, Business Unit (BU) marketing leaders, sales and market leadership, medical education teams, and Finance to create a high functioning and collaborative environment.
  • Manage roughly $4.5 million in direct variable spending and influence another $7 million in indirect costs, giving you executive-level exposure to financial strategy and enterprise decision-making. Expect meaningful growth in commercial leadership and cross-functional influence, with travel to priority events as needed.

You’re the right fit if:

  • You’ve acquired 10+ years of experience in event strategy, commercial marketing, or marketing operations, including at least 5 years leading and developing people (this role leads a team of 11). You’ve owned both individual event budgets and complex, portfolio-wide functional budgets.
  • Your skills include strong financial acumen with proven functional budget management, the ability to measure and prove the business impact of tradeshows and events through clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and the ability to build an events strategy from the ground up. Artificial Intelligence (AI) fluency and hands-on experience with event management software are a plus.
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You’re an emotionally intelligent leader with executive presence, strong cross-Business Unit collaboration skills, and deep operational domain knowledge in events. You’re comfortable making strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders and have the ability to travel to key events as needed.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
