We are seeking a highly skilled Head of Catastrophe Modeling to join our team, focusing on developing our Cat tools, setting strategies, and integrating into decision-making across our businesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in catastrophe modeling, risk analysis, and management. This role requires an individual with excellent analytical skills, a deep understanding of the insurance industry, and an entrepreneurial attitude to help build the cat management organization.

Key Responsibilities:

As Head of Cat Modeling, you will support the business across the following areas:

  • Cat Model Strategy:
    Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's catastrophe modeling strategies and tools.
  • Team Leadership:
    Lead the Catastrophe Modeling team and provide guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure their professional growth and the achievement of department objectives.
  • Collaboration Across Teams:
    Collaborate with actuarial, predictive modeling, and other key stakeholders to integrate catastrophe modeling into our business processes and drive positive results
  • External Collaboration:
    Foster relationships with insurance carriers, reinsurance brokers, and other vendor partners to understand their catastrophe modeling needs and align our services accordingly.
  • Reporting & Presentations:
    Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management based on catastrophe modeling results.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or actuarial designation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in catastrophe modeling or a related area
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in industry standard cat modeling software (e.g. AIR, RMS, etc.) and other analytical tools.
    • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
    • Familiarity with insurance underwriting and risk management processes.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
