Stord is The Consumer Experience Company, powering seamless checkout through delivery for today's leading brands. Stord is rapidly growing and is on track to double our revenue in the next 18 months. To meet and exceed this target, Stord is strategically scaling teams across the entire company, and seeking energetic experts to help us achieve our mission.

By combining comprehensive commerce-enablement technology with high-volume fulfillment services, Stord provides brands a platform to compete with retail giants. Stord manages over $10 billion of commerce annually through its fulfillment, warehousing, transportation, and operator-built software suite including OMS, Pre- and Post-Purchase, and WMS platforms. Stord is leveling the playing field for all brands to deliver the best consumer experience at scale.

With Stord, brands can increase cart conversion, improve unit economics, and drive sustained customer loyalty. Stord’s end-to-end commerce solutions combine best-in-class omnichannel fulfillment and shipping with leading technology to ensure fast shipping, reliable delivery promises, easy access to more channels, and improved margins on every order.

Hundreds of leading DTC and B2B companies like AG1, True Classic, Native, Seed Health, quip, goodr, Sundays for Dogs, and more trust Stord to deliver industry-leading consumer experiences on every order. Stord is headquartered in Atlanta with facilities across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Stord is backed by top-tier investors including Kleiner Perkins, Franklin Templeton, Founders Fund, Strike Capital, Baillie Gifford, and Salesforce Ventures.

The Opportunity
Stord is the commerce enablement platform that powers $10B+ in commerce annually for some
of the world's leading brands. We sit at the intersection of physical operations and software -
running fulfillment centers, parcel networks, and the technology stack that ties it all together.
AI is not a feature on our roadmap. It is central to every dimension of how Stord competes and
grows.
The opportunity here is genuinely broad. On the product side, we are building AI-powered
experiences that help brands manage, understand, and grow their commerce operations -
smarter interfaces, intelligent automation, and capabilities that make Stord indispensable to the
businesses that rely on us.
On the operations side, AI has the potential to transform how we run our warehouse and parcel
network - driving better decisions, automating manual processes, and making our operations
more efficient as we continue to scale. Internally, AI is already changing how our engineers
work, and we are only at the beginning of what that unlocks. Across all of this, better data and
smarter decision science means the business makes faster, more accurate calls at every level.
What makes this role distinct is the intentional coupling of product and operations. At Stord,
what we build and how we apply it internally are not separate concerns. A capability like
demand planning is simultaneously a module we sell to customers and a tool that powers our
own labor planning. The person in this role sees both sides and builds accordingly.
This is one of the most important hires we're making in 2026. The Head of AI is not a narrow
technical role - it's a GM mandate. You will own the AI product roadmap, lead the AI engineering
team, and be the force that ensures AI is woven into every part of Stord: the product we sell, the
operations we run, and the way our engineers work. You will sit within engineering, reporting to
the Head of Engineering, and operate as a senior partner to Product and Data leadership.

What You'll Own

  • AI product delivery - Own the roadmap and execution for all AI-native product capabilities. The AI PMs and Engineering Teams for AI report to you. You are the single owner for what ships, when, and why.
  • Internal AI enablement - Ensure AI is not just a product we sell but a capability embedded across Stord's operations, workflows, and engineering practices. You partner with every function, from ops to finance, to accelerate their adoption of AI tooling and agentic workflows.
  • Agentic engineering - Drive Stord's transition to agentic development. Work alongside the platform team and engineering leadership to ensure AI-assisted development is standard practice across every engineering pod, with measurable gains in velocity and quality.
  • Technical strategy and architecture - Own the AI architecture decisions that matter: model selection, agentic pipeline design, LLM integration patterns, inference infrastructure, and how AI interacts with our operational data layer.
  • Cross-functional alignment - Bridge AI across product, engineering, and data. Ensure the data team’s platform investments unlock what AI needs. Ensure product and engineering are building toward a coherent AI strategy, not separate experiments.
  • Talent and team - Hire, develop, and retain exceptional AI talent. Build a team that attracts people who want to work on genuinely hard problems at real scale.

What Success Looks Like in Year 1

  • StordAI is materially better and is a meaningful differentiator in customer conversations - Chat, Search, and Inbox are polished, whilst Stord’s Agent offering is adopted, and generating measurable value for brands
  • Agentic development is embedded - every engineer at Stord is working with AI tooling, and we have measurable data showing velocity improvement
  • AI enablement is running as a program - other functions (ops, CX, sales, finance) have adopted AI tools in their workflows with clear productivity outcomes
  • The AI team is built - PMs, engineers, and EMs are in place, operating with clarity, and shipping at pace
  • Our AI roadmap is clear, and excites both our customers and our business

Year 2 is about compounding that foundation - expanding AI's surface area across the product, driving material operational savings through AI-powered automation, and making Stord's AI capabilities a recognized reason brands choose Stord. The potential here is truly limitless and spans everything from end consumer touch points through, the brands that leverage Stord’s platform, to the associates in our warehouses.

Who You Are

You're a technical leader who operates like a GM. You've built AI products that real users depend on. You know how to move fast without losing the thread on quality or architecture. You think in systems, not just features - you see how model choices, data pipelines, product design, and operational workflows connect, and you make decisions that optimize the whole, not just the part in front of you.

Specifically:

  • You know what LLMs can and can't do, and when to leverage ML
  • You've designed agentic workflows that work in production, not just in demos
  • You've navigated the reality of AI in enterprise software - the reliability challenges, the trust issues, the integration complexity - and you've shipped through it.
  • You can own a roadmap, manage a team, and influence cross-functional partners without changes to reporting lines
  • You hold yourself accountable to outcomes, not activity

Most importantly: you're excited by this problem. Supply chain and commerce is an AI-rich domain - rich structured data, complex operational workflows, real-time decision making, and a customer base that will reward the platform that makes it intelligible. You see the opportunity here and want to build it.

This Role Is Not For Everyone

Stord is fast-moving, operationally complex, and high-stakes. We process billions of dollars of commerce and millions of physical orders. The AI you build here has real consequences - for the brands that trust us and for the operations that depend on us. We need someone who is energized by that responsibility, not intimidated by it.

If you want a lab environment to run experiments, this isn't it. If you want to own AI at a company that is genuinely ready to bet on it, we'd like to talk.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
