Choreo is a wealth management firm built on an interconnected network of financial advisors with a shared vision servicing entrepreneurs, CPAs, and individuals with a forward-thinking approach to financial planning to translate wealth into fulfillment. With over 200 employees and 40+ locations across the country, we are here to serve our clients beyond what is expected.

Choreo is building a centralized Advanced Planning team to support our most complex and valuable client relationships. We are seeking a Head of Advanced Planning to lead this effort—an experienced, strategic leader who can build and scale sophisticated planning capabilities while enabling advisors to deliver exceptional outcomes for high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients.

The Head of Advanced Planning will lead a multidisciplinary team of estate planning attorneys, tax planners, insurance specialists, and advanced financial planning professionals. Together, this team partners with advisor practices to solve complex client challenges involving tax, estate, business, insurance, and multigenerational wealth planning.

This leader will own the strategy, development, launch, and adoption of Advanced Planning capabilities across Choreo—building scalable solutions that deepen client trust, strengthen retention, and drive long term growth. This role is ideal for a senior planning professional who thrives at the intersection of technical expertise, team leadership, and business growth, and who believes advanced planning should make advisors more effective—not slow them down.

Primary Responsibilities:

Build & Lead the Advanced Planning Capability

  • Set the vision and operating model for Choreo’s Advanced Planning function.
  • Build and scale a high performing, multidisciplinary planning team.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top tier legal, tax, insurance, and planning talent.
  • Establish quality standards, engagement models, and best practices.

Support Advisors & Complex Clients

  • Partner with advisor teams on high complexity client needs, including:
    • Business succession and liquidity events
    • Advanced tax and estate strategies
    • Asset protection and insurance planning
    • Multigenerational and legacy planning
  • Enable advisors to identify planning opportunities and confidently orchestrate specialist support.
  • Ensure planning solutions are coordinated, practical, and client centric.

Drive Adoption & Growth

  • Lead the development and rollout of new advanced planning capabilities across Choreo.
  • Increase advisor adoption by integrating planning solutions into advisor workflows and client experiences.
  • Translate advanced planning into measurable business outcomes—deeper relationships, increased share of wallet, and generational asset retention.

Partner Across the Firm

  • Collaborate with Wealth Advisory, Investment, Technology, Marketing, and Operations leaders to embed Advanced Planning into the Choreo platform.
  • Serve as a senior voice in firmwide strategy related to high net worth and business owner clients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university, preferably in Wealth Management, Personal Wealth Planning, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Advanced credentials (e.g., JD, CPA, EA, CFP®, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Series 65 license or equivalent required, or willingness to complete the license within 90 days of start if current certifications do not cover the requirement
  • 15+ years of deep expertise in advanced wealth planning, including tax, estate, insurance, business, and asset protection strategies for high net worth and ultra high net worth clients.
  • Prior leadership experience managing specialist or center of excellence teams in wealth management, private client, or professional services environments.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling capabilities, recruiting talent, and driving adoption across advisor organizations.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of business owners, liquidity events, and multigenerational families.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex planning concepts into practical, advisor led solutions.

Employee Benefits

At Choreo, we provide a holistic, total reward offering to empower our teams in their professional and personal lives. We seek to provide employees with benefits that place an emphasis on health, happiness, and financial security. Here is what we offer:

  • Competitive salary and bonus plan
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Basic life and disability coverage
  • 401(k) matching program
  • Financial support for approved designations and courses
  • Technical, leadership, sales training opportunities
  • Unlimited, discretionary time off
  • Paid parental leave

Choreo is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
