Location: Palo Alto, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle or Austin
Base Salary Range: $120,000 to $297,000 + Equity

What You’ll Do:

As a Senior/Staff Hardware Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the robust and efficient operation of our hardware infrastructure at X. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and architecting hardware systems to support our overall platform

  • Collaborating cross-functionally with external software engineering teams and other stakeholders to understand current and future hardware needs

  • Developing cost-effective plans for upgrading and maintaining aging hardware systems

  • Providing insights and direction on hardware requirements and ensuring alignment with organizational goals

  • Testing and validating hardware components to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards

  • Directly working with our Datacenter Engineering and Operations teams to troubleshoot complicated hardware issues and ensure successful operation of deployed hardware.

  • Staying updated on the latest industry trends in hardware engineering and applying best practices to our systems

Who You Are:

We're looking for exceptional engineers who are passionate about our mission and have a strong desire to make a meaningful impact. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience

  • 5 to 10 years of industry experience in hardware engineering, particularly with large-scale systems and infrastructure

  • A deep understanding of systems architecture and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Experience in planning and deploying hardware at scale, with a focus on cost-efficiency and system reliability

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to formulate actionable plans for hardware lifecycle management

  • Familiarity with testing and validating hardware systems to ensure they meet operational requirements

  • A practical mindset with a keen understanding of the operational impact of deploying hardware solutions

  • Able to deliver high quality solutions as an integral member of large scale project teams

  • Used to thinking outside the box to find solutions to complex problems

  • Extremely committed, willing to work in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
