Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineering Intern - El Segundo, CA

This is a full-time (40 hours / week) internship based in our El Segundo office. As an Engineering Intern on our Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Team, you will work on challenging technical projects that align with our business and product needs. You will help support the technical direction for architecting and implementing path planning, state estimation, and/flight control algorithms on board our aircraft. 

This internship is based in our El Segundo office. The Summer Intern Program will run for 12 weeks starting in May / June depending on your academic calendar.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms and analysis tools. This includes Flight Envelope Protection design, Dynamics Modeling, Controls, and State Estimation Algorithms
  • Analyze flight test data, support 6-DoF Simulation and Monte Carlo Analysis, and assess GNC performance of aircraft systems
  • Contribute to documentation for design, analysis, verification, validation, and specification of test procedures and results
  • Support Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and flight test campaigns

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a university pursuing your Bachelors or Masters in an engineering discipline (Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering)
  • Graduating between December 2026 & June 2027
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a Graduates level degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Prior internship experience in aviation a bonus
  • Familiarity with Git and JIRA
  • Background in Linear Dynamics and Controls Analysis or State Estimation Algorithms (e.g Extended Kalman Filtering)
