Who we are

Picogrid is a leading venture-backed defense technology company founded to bridge the decades-long gap between modern technology and the critical demands of national security. Today, we're building the essential infrastructure to unify sensors, autonomy, and operators with our technology deployed in active operations around the world. Our mission is to deliver an operational advantage to secure the United States and its allies.

About the role

If you love writing and thrive at the intersection of research, strategy, and storytelling, you'll love this role. As a Growth Lead (Proposals) at Picogrid, you'll dive deep into our users’ needs and how they connect to critical national security challenges. You’ll develop a deep understanding of our products and translate your insights into compelling proposals, white papers, and presentations that drive business growth.

You’ll work closely with customers, founders, and technical stakeholders to identify long-term opportunities and shape capture, pricing, and outreach strategies. Your writing will help secure partnerships, influence decision-makers, and drive the future of autonomous systems in defense.

At Picogrid, we look for people who are scrappy, ambitious, and thrive in high-intensity environments. We move fast, solve hard problems, and push boundaries in defense technology. Above all, we act with integrity—to our team, our customers, and the mission.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary author and project manager for Requests for Information (RFI) and Proposal (RFP) responses.

  • Engage with the DoW and commercial partners, tailoring your communication style to suit different audiences, from senior military leaders to end users.

  • Gain thorough knowledge of Picogrid's products and effectively demonstrate their alignment with the critical mission requirements of current and prospective Defense clients.

  • Maintain a superior proposal infrastructure, incorporating best practices from major defense contractors and the commercial sector, and improve the caliber of written content.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly

  • Deep curiosity about defense technology and national security applications

  • Self-starter mentality with a bias for action and ownership of deliverables

  • Experience leveraging modern tools and AI to enhance productivity and workflow efficiency

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders while maintaining focus on execution

  • Track record of delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines without compromising standards

Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Think Tank, Technical Writing, Capture Management, Management Consulting, Government Business Development, or similar roles.

  • A proven track record in writing successful proposals (personally led proposal efforts resulting in at least $5M won across multiple efforts), with the ability to showcase high-quality examples of written prose and presentations on technical subjects.

  • Domain knowledge within the Defense and Intelligence sectors, particularly in areas like joint/all-domain Command and Control (C2), intelligence, and tactical communications.

  • Active or eligibility to obtain a US Government Security Clearance, noting that such clearances are only granted to US citizens.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary range: $93,000-$185,000 based on level + 15-30% Performance Incentive

  • Significant stock options with a high potential upside as an early-stage company

  • 401(k) with employer matching

  • Full health coverage (medical, dental, and vision insurance)

  • Relocation assistance provided (if applicable)

  • Unlimited PTO (two-week minimum) and 11 paid holidays per year

  • Paid parental leave for both parents

  • Lunch provided when working in-office and a fully stocked kitchenette

  • Free EV charging at the HQ

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
