Position Overview:

Squarepoint is looking to grow its Growth investing team and we are looking for several motivated candidates with a passion for engaging, evaluating, and supporting early-stage startups. This position will be based in Los Angeles.

You will be focused on evaluating Series C – pre-IPO businesses across the entire enterprise and vertical software, fintech, and commerce ecosystems. Core sub themes can include AI/ML, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Cloud Infrastructure, Application Software, Industrials, Consumer Enablement, and Fintech.

Primary responsibilities will be helping evaluate new investment opportunities through research-driven sourcing, identifying markets and sector trends, leading deal processes, conducting detailed business and financial due diligence, and monitoring and managing portfolio company performance.

This is an opportunity for you to leverage cutting edge resources both internally and externally to collaborate closely with teams globally across the business to improve and scale our venture/growth business.

  • Deal screening and evaluation
    • Evaluate, assess, and validate investment materials we receive from potential companies
    • Lead all aspects of diligence and management engagement on investment opportunities/deal processes, including financial modeling
  • Data-Driven Company Value
    • Collaborate with Squarepoint’s technical teams to deliver high-touch support to our portfolio companies across several value-added initiatives within R&D and GTM
    • Lead monitoring and managing portfolio company performance
  • Data-Driven Market Research:
    • Leverage Squarepoint’s internal resources to help build investment theses and perspectives to guide our diligence and sourcing efforts
    • Source new investment opportunities based on investment themes and research

Required Qualifications:                      

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience across either investment banking, operating experience either at a technology company or venture funded business, or another venture fund.
  • Experience with detailed financial modeling including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements as well as quantitative market research (e.g., valuation comps) required.
  • Exposure to venture capital modeling (e.g., cap table, returns modeling) and familiarity with standard venture terms and concepts.
  • Awareness of the market and a perspective on emerging investable trends.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, including experience building slides and memo writing.
  • Experience with enterprise software and technology deals is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in finance, economics, engineering and/or computer science

The base salary for this role is between $130,000-$200,000.  This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting.  This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation.  This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions.  Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors
