Sans is on a mission to build the next great consumer hardware brand, with a laser focus on products that help people live healthier lives at home. We started with a category-leading air purifier before expanding to a best-in-class countertop water purifier that actually works to eliminate harmful contaminants – and our product roadmap is just getting started.

We’re a small, ambitious team that believes deeply in our ability to create a meaningful consumer brand. We move fast, learn quickly, and consistently outperform much larger competitors.

The Growth team plays a critical role in driving customer acquisition, revenue, and scalable growth across channels. This team is accountable for developing and optimizing performance marketing strategies, creative, and experimentation frameworks to efficiently reach new customers and expand our impact as we grow.

The Growth Copywriter will support the execution layer of our creative operation across paid ads and other channels, with a strong emphasis on writing high-performing copy. They will contribute to concepts, hooks, and scripts while helping coordinate their execution. The role reports directly to the Creative Strategist and will work closely with our Video Editor, Digital Designer, agency partners, and freelance creators. They will also collaborate with the broader Sans team to help write and refine copy across direct-response channels like email & lifecycle, web & landing pages, and more.

The ideal candidate brings strong instincts for direct-response copy and ads and is hands-on with writing across formats. They should be comfortable analyzing performance to understand what’s working and what’s not, and bring a scrappy, proactive mindset.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Draft and iterate on video ad scripts and voiceovers, developing hooks, talking points, and messaging that can be quickly tested and improved.
  • Support the creative pipeline by turning performance insights into new copy variations, angles, and test ideas.
  • Write and refine copy across direct-response channels (paid social ads, landing pages, email/SMS) to support campaign execution and consistency.
  • Assist in building and running messaging tests, helping prioritize ideas, track performance, and capture key takeaways.
  • Pull from customer feedback, reviews, and common objections to inform new messaging directions.
  • Work closely with Digital Designer and Video Editor to ensure copy aligns with creative execution and testing goals.
  • Contribute ideas for new ads and creative directions based on trends, competitor activity, and what’s working.
  • Help organize and document copy learnings so successful messaging can be reused and built upon.

Requirements
  • Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field
    • 1–3+ years of experience in copywriting, performance marketing, or creative strategy (internships or freelance work included)
    • Experience writing direct-response copy for paid ads, landing pages, email, SMS
    • Familiarity with performance marketing channels (e.g. Meta, YouTube, CTV) and how creative drives results
    • Experience contributing to creative testing (e.g. hooks, headlines, angles) and analyzing what’s working vs. not
    • Exposure to creative production workflows or working with designers, editors, or creators is a plus
    • Startup, DTC, or e-commerce experience or strong interest is a plus
  • Interpersonal:
    • Strong taste in direct-response creative and a willingness to be hands-on with writing and iteration
    • Analytical mindset – able to interpret performance and extract actionable creative insights
    • Scrappy and proactive – takes initiative, figures things out, and moves work forward independently
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills – able to work effectively across creative, growth, and external partners
    • Organized and detail-oriented – able to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
    • Curiosity and eagerness to learn – excited to develop creative instincts and grow within a fast-paced environment

Benefits
  • Base salary $55,000 - $60,000 based on experience, plus bonus and equity
  • Option for fully paid medical, dental, and vision
  • Opportunity to contribute to 401k
  • Unlimited PTO plus 11+ paid holidays
  • LA-based hybrid team (3 days/week), based in Culver City

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
