Our client is a Nigerian group comprising a Construction and Solar Energy company, two businesses focused on delivering practical solutions in Construction and Solar Energy.

The Construction Business specialises in prefabricated and modular buildings for corporate organisations, government agencies, oil and gas operators, contractors, developers and institutions. Its solutions include offices, site camps, schools, clinics, police stations, kiosks and homes, with an emphasis on speed, quality, durability and local content.

The Solar Energy Business provides solar home systems and productive-use solar solutions to households, small businesses and institutions. Through pay-as-you-go financing, agent-led distribution and digital channels, our client is expanding access to reliable energy for underserved communities.

Together, the group is building recognised Nigerian businesses that serve both institutional and consumer markets. The Group is focused on expanding access, strengthening demand and delivering scalable solutions that support economic growth and improve everyday lives.

Role Summary

The Head, Branding and Marketing builds and runs marketing for the Construction and Solar Energy businesses from a standing start, under the group brand. One leader, two very different playbooks: The Construction business sells high-ticket prefab buildings to corporates and government; the SolarEnergy business sells solar on a pay-as-you-go basis to households and small businesses.

Key Responsibility

Group brand and strategy

  • Own the group brand architecture and how the Construction and Solar Energy sit beneath it.

  • Set a 12-month marketing plan and budget per company, approved by the Chairman, with quarterly reviews.

  • Keep one consistent group story for investors, DFIs, banks and government (decks, website, profiles, annual report).

  • Run corporate communications, media relations and the Chairman's thought-leadership profile.

Construction (B2B / B2G)

  • Position the Construction business as Nigeria's leading local prefab manufacturer, built on speed, local content and quality.

  • Build an account-based pipeline with sales: target lists in oil and gas, construction, government and real estate.

  • Produce case studies, project films, technical brochures and tender-ready company profiles.

  • Launch and run the Lagos and Port Harcourt showrooms as lead-generation centres.

  • Plan trade shows and industry events (e.g. NOG Energy Week, Big 5 Construct Nigeria) and LinkedIn presence.

Solar Energy (B2C / PAYG and institutional)

  • Build awareness and trust for EASY / Plug In The Sun in target states, in English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and Pidgin as needed.

  • Run radio, outdoor, social, WhatsApp and community activations; measure cost per qualified lead and per install.

  • Equip master agents and sub-agents with sales kits, training content and local promotions.

  • Design referral, loyalty and repayment-behaviour campaigns with the operations and collections teams.

  • Support state-government, cooperative and institutional bids with campaign and launch plans.

Team, Agencies and Measurement

  • Hire and lead a lean team (content, digital/performance, events, field marketing).

  • Select and manage creative, media, PR and digital agencies against clear briefs and fees.

  • Set up CRM, lead tracking and attribution with sales; report pipeline and cost metrics monthly.

  • Protect brand standards across all touchpoints, vehicles, sites, uniforms and partner materials.

Education, Qualification and Experience

  • 12+ years in marketing or brand roles, with at least 4 years leading a function as Head, Director or CMO.

  • Proven record in Nigeria across both B2B/institutional and mass-market consumer marketing.

  • Built a marketing function or launched a brand from a low base, with numbers to show for it.

  • Comfortable with both above-the-line (radio, TV, outdoor) and digital/performance channels.

  • Strong commercial sense: works hand in hand with sales, reports on cost per lead and pipeline, not just impressions.

  • Has hired and managed agencies and budgets.

  • Builder and doer: writes briefs and reviews creative personally, not only a manager of managers.

  • Fast-moving, direct and able to work with a hands-on founder.

  • Data-literate and frugal with spend.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience in off-grid solar/PAYG, telecoms, fintech, FMCG or agent-network businesses for Solar Energy.

  • Experience in construction, building materials, oil and gas services or industrial B2B for Construction.

  • Network in Nigerian media and government communications.

  • Speaks Hausa or another major Nigerian language.

  • Degree in marketing, business or communications; MBA or CIM/APCON/NIMN credentials are a plus.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
