Who We Are

Sans is on a mission to build the next great consumer hardware brand, with a laser focus on products that help people live healthier lives at home. We started with a category-leading air purifier before expanding to a best-in-class countertop water purifier that actually works to eliminate harmful contaminants – and our product roadmap is just getting started.

We’re a small, ambitious team that believes deeply in our ability to create a meaningful consumer brand. We move fast, learn quickly, and consistently outperform much larger competitors.

Your Role

Brand is how Sans builds trust, differentiation, and long-term demand. It defines how we look, how we show up visually, and how customers experience us across every touchpoint.

The Digital Graphic Designer will own the visual execution of the Sans brand across digital channels — email, social, paid, and lifecycle touchpoints. This role is responsible for translating brand strategy into polished, on-brand design systems and assets that scale across fast-moving, always-on channels.

This role reports to the Creative Director and partners closely with Brand, Creative, Product, Lifecycle, and eCommerce.

The ideal candidate is a strong visual designer and systems thinker — someone who can build and maintain a design system, not just execute individual assets within it.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Own Email Design Across Flows and Campaigns: Lead the redesign of all existing lifecycle email flows to reflect the new Sans brand system, and take ongoing ownership of continuous design and iteration across flows as the brand evolves. Design weekly campaign emails with a high bar for typography, hierarchy, pacing, and thoughtful visual restraint. Develop reusable, modular email templates that enable fast production at scale without sacrificing craft.
  • Design for Organic Social: Partner with Brand to design organic social content in alignment with evergreen storytelling and launches, helping to maintain a consistent visual brand voice across organic channels.
  • Design for Paid Social: Design paid social creative, translating brand and campaign strategy into assets built to perform. Bring an understanding of how to express the Sans brand within the conventions of each platform — flexing tone, pacing, and format to prioritize scroll-stopping, sales-driving creative while staying recognizably on-brand. This work will be done alongside other external creatives and designers also contributing to paid; strong collaboration skills are needed to bring a cohesive suite of assets together across contributors. Partner with Growth and Lifecycle to iterate quickly based on performance.
  • Build and Maintain the Sans Figma Design System and Component Library: Translate the Sans brand identity into a fully systemized Figma library, including a component library, design tokens, typography styles, color systems, and iconography. Document and maintain the system so that it is accessible and usable by cross-functional teams. Evolve the library as new surfaces, campaigns, and product lines emerge.
  • Expand and Evolve the Brand Identity: Apply the Sans visual identity across new and existing digital surfaces with consistency and intention. Identify opportunities to strengthen and extend the brand system as the company grows. Partner with the Creative Director to push the visual language forward in a way that feels fresh, cohesive, and ownable.
  • Enable Creative and Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with Lifecycle, eCommerce, Growth, and Brand to deliver design that performs and resonates. Provide design direction and assets that empower the broader team to move quickly while maintaining a high standard of quality and brand cohesion.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in design
  • 4–7+ years of experience in brand or visual design roles
  • Deep expertise in Figma, including building and managing design systems and component libraries
  • Strong portfolio of email and social design work — lifecycle flows, campaigns, and template systems
  • Experience designing for paid social, with an understanding of how to adapt brand expression across platforms while driving performance
  • Comfortable collaborating with external creatives/agencies to align on a cohesive visual output across contributors
  • Experience applying and evolving brand identities across digital surfaces
  • Video editing & motion graphic skills are a strong plus, in support of email, social, and paid channels
  • DTC, consumer, or startup experience preferred

Interpersonal:

  • Strong visual sensibility with a high bar for craft and brand cohesion
  • Systems thinker — builds scalable infrastructure, not just individual assets
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Collaborative and cross-functional — works closely with Lifecycle, Brand, and Creative
  • Self-directed and adaptable in a fast-moving startup environment
  • Curious and evolving — always pushing the work and your own skills forward

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
