As a Graphic Designer at Health Catalyst, you’ll own the visual voice of a healthcare technology company positioned at the intersection of data, clinical outcomes, and real human stakes. The work spans the full range, from sales collateral to event materials to social campaign creative, and we’re looking for a strong creative operator to bring it all to life.

This is an early-career role for someone who already thinks like a graphic designer and is ready to grow alongside people who take the craft seriously and expect you to as well. You should also be ready to work closely with different stakeholders, taking their goals from concept to finished creative.

What you bring to this role:

  • Puts the work first. Open to feedback, willing to revise, and more invested in the outcome than the original idea.

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity but knows when to ask a clarifying question rather than guess.

  • Can walk through their process and defend the decisions behind it, not just the final output.

  • Curious about design trends and the broader visual landscape, and brings that awareness into the work.

  • Believes strong design thinking travels across tools and formats, not just the ones they know best.

What you will own in this role:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with a portfolio that demonstrates range across formats and use cases.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Word, with the ability to produce polished, brand-consistent output in both.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, track deadlines, and communicate proactively when priorities shift.

  • Strong visual communication skills, with an eye for typography, layout, and hierarchy across print and digital formats.

  • Familiarity with Figma is a plus.

Education & Relevant Experience

  • 2+ years of design experience in an agency or professional setting preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, or related field — or a strong portfolio demonstrating client or project work at a comparable level.

The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job function.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, and indeed additional responsibilities may be assigned by Health Catalyst.

Studies show that candidates from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply for roles if they don’t have 100% of the qualifications shown in the job posting. While each of our roles have core requirements, please thoughtfully consider your skills and experience and decide if you are interested in the position. If you feel you may be a good fit for the role, even if you don’t meet all of the qualifications, we hope you will apply. If you feel you are lacking the core requirements for this position, we encourage you to continue exploring our careers page for other roles for which you may be a better fit.

At Health Catalyst, we appreciate the opportunity to benefit from the diverse backgrounds and experiences of others. Because of our deep commitment to respect every individual, Health Catalyst is an equal opportunity employer.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
