Graphic Designer

About the Role
As a Graphic Designer at MagicSchool, you’ll bring our “teachers are magic” brand to life through bold, structured, and imaginative visuals. You’ll be a hands-on creator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, executing high-quality work across digital, print, events, and campaigns. This role is highly collaborative and cross-functional—you’ll partner with marketing, product, sales, and customer experience to create polished, on-brand designs while finding fresh, creative ways to expand our visual identity.

We’re looking for someone with a strong design foundation, attention to detail, and a self-starter mindset. You’ll balance creative innovation with brand consistency, own projects end-to-end, and contribute to the playful-yet-professional feel of our brand.

Key ResponsibilitiesBrand Execution & Design
  • Deliver high-quality designs across digital, print, and event channels (ads, social, web/email, presentations, trade show booths, flyers, swag, etc.).

  • Execute within brand guidelines while pushing creative boundaries thoughtfully.

  • Contribute to swag, campaign marks/logos, and special creative requests across the company.

Project Ownership & Collaboration
  • Take full ownership of scoped design projects, breaking them into clear deliverables and driving them to completion without heavy oversight.

  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, product, sales, and customer experience to ensure designs support business goals and enhance user experiences.

  • Partner with team members to balance workloads and back each other up as priorities shift.

  • Participate in team ceremonies, planning, and feedback sessions.

Creative Problem-Solving & Growth
  • Apply strong design principles (hierarchy, flow, structure) to ensure clarity, consistency, and polish.

  • Stay current with design and EdTech trends, introducing new approaches to improve efficiency and creativity.

  • Identify and propose new design projects that move the team toward business goals.

What We’re Looking For

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5-7+ years of professional experience in graphic design or visual communication.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Figma.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong design fundamentals, creativity, and visual storytelling - with examples of B2B and B2C brand identity, digital, print, and/or events work.

  • Ability to own projects end-to-end, self-critique, and deliver on deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and receive/give feedback constructively.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canva.

  • Background in EdTech or other technology-focused industry (a plus, not required).

Notice: Priority Deadline and Review Start Date

Please note that applications for this position will be accepted until 10/31/25 - applications received after this date will be reviewed on an intermittent basis. While we encourage early submissions, all applications received by the priority deadline will receive equal consideration. Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to reviewing your application.

Why Join Us?

  • Work on cutting-edge AI technology that directly impacts educators and students.

  • Join a mission-driven team passionate about making education more efficient and equitable.

  • Flexibility of working from home, while fostering a unique culture built on relationships, trust, communication, and collaboration with our team - no matter where they live.

  • Unlimited time off to empower our employees to manage their work-life balance. We work hard for our teachers and users, and encourage our employees to rest and take the time they need.

  • Choice of employer-paid health insurance plans so that you can take care of yourself and your family. Dental and vision are also offered at very low premiums.

  • Every employee is offered generous stock options, vested over 4 years.

  • Plus a 401k match & monthly wellness stipend

Our Values:

  • Educators are Magic:  Educators are the most important ingredient in the educational process - they are the magic, not the AI. Trust them, empower them, and put them at the center of leading change in service of students and families.

  • Joy and Magic: Bring joy and magic into every learning experience - push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI.

  • Community:  Foster community that supports one another during a time of rapid technological change. Listen to them and serve their needs.

  • Innovation:  The education system is outdated and in need of innovation and change - AI is an opportunity to bring equity, access, and serve the individual needs of students better than we ever have before.

  • Responsibility: Put responsibility and safety at the forefront of the technological change that AI is bringing to education.

  • Diversity: Diversity of thought, perspectives, and backgrounds helps us serve the wide audience of educators and students around the world.

  • Excellence:  Educators and students deserve the best - and we strive for the highest quality in everything we do.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
