The Role

BuzzFeed Studios is looking for a project-based Graphic Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will partner with creative teams to design assets that enhance brand identity and audience engagement across various BuzzFeed projects, ensuring the BuzzFeed voice is upheld and projects meet our standards. Working and communicating effectively in a remote environment is a must. Candidates may be asked to work in the office, so LA-based designers are strongly preferred.

This is a part-time freelance position located in our Los Angeles office. The candidate needs to be able to commute to the office a few times a week. 

You Will

  • Collaborate with creative teams to develop innovative, high-quality designs and assets.
  • Create original key art, marketing materials, deck designs, and more.
  • Generate motion graphics, title design elements, and assist with graphics-heavy video projects.
  • Work with post coordinators to set timelines and expectations for requested assets.
  • Maintain project organization.
  • Maintain graphic standards across BuzzFeed projects by following the BF style guides.
  • Participate in pre-production consultations.
  • Organize and maintain SOPs across departments.
  • Build templates and mogrts for multiple projects.
  • Identify problems and pose creative solutions quickly.
  • Effectively handle feedback and graphic changes, ensuring all designs meet high-quality standards and deadlines.

You Have

  • 2+ years design experience delivering high quality assets in a professional environment.
  • Link to a strong portfolio or reel, to showcase recent work samples.
  • Excellent communication, positive attitude for a variety of different projects.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Mac OS, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite as well as 3rd party software including but not limited to:
    • Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Encoder, Premiere Pro, After Effects
    • Red Giant
    • Maxon Studios
  • Advanced knowledge of Post Production workflows, codecs, image types, resolutions, frame rates as they pertain to digital media trends.
  • Flexibility to adapt with changing timelines and deliverables.
  • Proactive, positive team player, able to help guide projects from conception to delivery.
  • Remote work will require internet access and recommended capabilities of at least 20 Mbps of download speed and 10 Mbps of upload speed of dedicated internet bandwidth. For reference, try a speed test. We can accommodate on campus access to anyone who does not have adequate internet bandwidth from home.
  • Experience with shared remote and proxy-based workflows and remote SANs a plus
