JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Grants & Partnerships Manager

Employment Classification: Full Time / Salary / Exempt

Reports to: Chief Development Officer 


Department: Development

Department Summary: The Development Team oversees fundraising, events, revenue-generating partnerships, and 

marketing for Orangewood Foundation, as well as supporting government contracts and 

grants. 

Position Summary: The Grants & Partnerships Manager of Orangewood Foundation reports to the Chief Development Officer and works closely with the Development, Programs, and Finance teams to write and manage grants, develop and steward key grantmaking relationships with institutional funders (foundations, companies, and corporate foundations), assist with writing and submitting government grants, solicit event sponsorships through proposal writing, support with major gift proposal writing and impact reporting, and conduct prospect research for new revenue-generating opportunities.

Requirements

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Writes grants and manages a grant portfolio, which includes independently writing, project managing, and submitting grant requests to foundations, companies, corporate foundations, and government agencies. This includes writing grant applications, free-form proposals, letters of inquiry/interest, and reports.
  • Develops and achieves the annual revenue goal for Foundation Grants for the organization
  • Stewards and manages grantmaking relationships with a portfolio of institutional funders (e.g., foundations, companies, government agencies).
  • Project manages applications for government contracts and grants, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate submission and reporting.
  • Supervises the activities and is responsible for the output of the Grants Coordinator. Delegates appropriate tasks to the Grants Coordinator and ensures they are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Conducts ongoing prospect research to identify, cultivate, and solicit new revenue-generating opportunities and grow the core grants portfolio. Works with Director to steward relationships with new funders and deepen their involvement with organization.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains effective systems for grants management, portfolio management, budgeting, and revenue tracking, including use of Raisers Edge.
  • Supports the Chief Development Officer in writing materials for Development Team, including major gift proposals, impact reports, marketing and communications collateral, and sponsorship requests.
  • Independently collaborates with internal partners and stakeholders within the organization to gather and maintain accurate and updated data and information for grant submissions and reports, including staff from Programs, Finance, People & Culture, and Development teams.
  • Additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the human services field working with transitional age youth or similar populations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of grant writing experience. The ideal candidate has a proven track-record of securing grant awards as the primary writer.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience managing employees
  • 1-3 years of experience applying for government grants and contracts.
  • 1-2 years of relationship-building and portfolio management experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
  • Interest in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a larger team.
  • Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems, such as Raisers Edge.
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Primary work conducted in a hybrid office/work from home environment, supplemented by meetings on-site and in the community with external partners.
  • Position may require use of personal vehicle. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, food, water, etc.).
  • Modification to work schedule may be made based on needs of the Foundation
