The Google Ads Manager will oversee beta accounts, optimize campaigns, and provide strategic insights for a SaaS company's automated Google Ads platform in regulated industries.

About The Company

We are an early-stage SaaS company building the first Google Ads automation platform designed specifically for highly regulated, high-stakes industries, starting with addiction treatment and expanding into healthcare, legal, dental, and other competitive verticals.

The platform is built on a proprietary campaign framework developed through years of hands-on performance work in the addiction treatment space. Our goal is to turn expert-level Google Ads strategy into software without sacrificing nuance, ethics, or results.

We’re currently preparing for beta launch and are looking for an experienced Google Ads practitioner to help run and evolve the system during this critical phase.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Google Ads Manager who goes well beyond “button pushing.”

This role sits at the intersection of:

  • Hands-on account management
  • Strategic thinking about performance systems
  • Product feedback and iteration

You will manage a portfolio of beta accounts, but you’ll also help shape the rules, heuristics, and decision-making logic that will ultimately be automated inside the Pivotal platform.

This is a great role for someone who:

  • Loves Google Ads and likes thinking in systems
  • Has worked in regulated or high-CAC industries
  • Is excited about building something from the ground up
  • Understands that early-stage startups trade short-term certainty for long-term upside
  • Is looking for a less-than-full-time flex role that will grow over time

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and optimize 10–15 Google Ads PPC accounts during the beta period
  • Work primarily in regulated or high-compliance environments (addiction treatment, healthcare, legal, dental, etc.)
  • Make thoughtful, data-driven adjustments to:
    • Bidding strategies
    • Budgets and pacing
    • Search terms and negative keywords
    • Ad copy and messaging
    • Geographic and demographic targeting
  • Document decisions, changes, and hypotheses clearly using tools like Loom
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • The CEO and CRO
    • Product leadership
    • Engineering and product teams
  • Contribute insights that inform:
    • Automation rules
    • Performance thresholds
    • Product roadmap decisions
  • Help translate human expertise into scalable product logic

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 4+ years of hands-on Google Ads management experience, ideally end-to-end management of $50K+/month in ad spend
  • Deep understanding of Search campaigns (and ideally Performance Max)
  • Experience managing accounts in regulated, compliance-heavy, or high-CAC industries
  • Strong grasp of:
    • Conversion tracking and call tracking (experience with CallTrackingMetrics a strong plus)
    • Search term mining and negative keyword strategy
    • Budget pacing and impression share tradeoffs
    • Landing page optimization principles
  • Ability to clearly explain why you made a change, not just what you changed
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and early-stage environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience in addiction treatment, healthcare, or similar verticals
  • Experience working with product or engineering teams
  • Interest in SaaS, automation, or performance tooling
  • Prior startup experience (early-stage a plus)

How This Role Is Different

This is not an agency role and not a junior execution position.

You will:

  • Have real influence on how a product is built
  • Be trusted to think strategically, not just tactically
  • Help define what “good” looks like before it’s automated
  • See your ideas directly turned into software

If you’ve ever thought, “I could build a better system than this,” this role is probably for you.

Compensation & Growth

We want to be transparent:

  • Compensation is competitive but not Big Tech-level at launch
  • Structure and time commitment is flexible
  • Long-term upside is meaningful as the company grows
  • This role has the potential to evolve into a senior leadership or product-focused position as the company scales

We care more about finding the right long-term partner than optimizing for the cheapest short-term hire.

Why This Role

  • Ground-floor opportunity at a mission-driven SaaS company
  • Real ownership over your work and impact
  • Ethical focus in a space that truly matters
  • Direct access to founders and decision-makers
  • A chance to help shape a category-defining product

How to Apply

Along with your resume, please send:

  • A brief note about your Google Ads experience, including examples of relevant campaigns you’ve managed and the results you were able to achieve
  • The industries you’ve worked in
  • What excites you about early-stage startups

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
