Run Underdog's local go-to-market activations: book bars, coordinate tailgates and street stunts, secure vendor/venue deals, manage budgets and timelines, travel to represent the brand, and use AI tools to speed logistics while owning on-site problem-solving and relationships.

At Underdog, we make sports more fun.

Our thesis is simple: build the best product for sports fans and we will win the space. Founded in 2020, we're one of the fastest-growing sports companies ever, and there’s still so much left to do. We've built and scaled products across fantasy sports, sports betting, and prediction markets, all united in one app that’s seamless, intuitive, and actually fun to use.

Underdog isn’t for everyone. One of our core values is give a sh*t. The people who win here are the ones who care, push, and perform. We’re remote-first by design, but highly collaborative with regular in-person gatherings that help teams build, iterate, and move fast together.

Got that dog in you? Join us.

After all, winning as an Underdog is more fun.

GTM Associate Location: CA or TX preferred, open to remote with travel. Travel: 2 weekends/month during the NFL season.

The role in a few lines: You run Underdog's marketing in local markets: booking bars, building out tailgates, street activations, and get out-of-home up and running before game day. Think of the person who makes a city feel like Underdog already lives there, days before the brand officially shows up.

We proved this model works, now we're doing it for real, market by market, all season.

What you'll actually do:
  • Plan and run local activations like bar takeovers and tailgates and street-level stunts. You're not approving these from a desk, you're building them.
  • Land vendor and venue deals. Call vendors, negotiate space, coordinate contractors, and when the first answer is no, find another way in.
  • Travel to key markets and be the person physically representing Underdog on site when it counts.
  • Manage timelines and budgets for each activation, while still pitching your own ideas. This isn't a pure execution role.
  • Use AI tools to move faster on the logistics grind, so you can spend your time on the stuff that actually needs a human: the vendor calls, the on site problem solving, the relationships.

The one non-negotiable: You have to have that dog in you. When a vendor says no, we need you to find yes yourself, not escalate and wait. Come back and tell us how you pulled it off.

Nice to have:
  • Experience at an experiential or event marketing agency
  • Campus event production, or anything where you built something out of basically no resources
  • Grinder energy: organized enough to run logistics, scrappy enough to enjoy the chaos when the plan falls apart

Before you apply: This role travels about two weekends a month during the NFL season. We'll walk through exactly what that looks like on your first call.

Who this is for: Someone who'd rather be in the weeds setting up and executing versus sitting on Zoom.

Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $100,000, plus target equity. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, skills and expertise, interview performance, and other market considerations.

What we can offer you:
  • Unlimited PTO for full-time employees (we're extremely flexible with the exception of the first few weeks before and into the NFL season)
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave
  • Home office stipend
  • A virtual-first culture, but we come together a few times per year in person for offsites, trainings, hackathons, and more
  • Slack reactions for every occasion
  • 401k with up to 5% employer match
  • Company paid health, dental, vision plan options for employees and dependents, FSA, and more
  • Opportunity to celebrate your favorite sports teams through local meetups and company-sponsored events
  • Claude and ChatGPT enterprise accounts

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
