Job Description:

This role exists to support the Global Digital Insights Lead and Global Price Risk Management Function and become an expert in deploying Predictive AI (Artificial Intelligence) models to forecast ingredient and packaging costs for Mars Petcare. The role will support statistical analysis, model creation, and strategy development within the AI Forecasting tool. The data and insights will be used to drive price stability and cost savings for sourcing and price risk management teams, as well as Commercial and Financial leadership. Previous experience leading AI-centric projects is not required; however, a strong desire to learn and deploy innovative tools is essential. In a rapidly digitising world, this role provides an excellent entry into AI development and strategy.

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, or Business with a preferred focus on Econometrics

  • Familiar with data analysis/visualisation tools such as SAS, Python, SQL, R, Stata, and Power BI

  • Proficient in statistical analysis/data science techniques: particularly time series modelling, regression analysis, scenario analysis, etc.

  • Can formulate a hypothesis, test, and validate new models, or can modify existing models by changing parameters or creating additional features

  • Passion for learning and promoting the use of tools such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Digital technologies to generate efficiencies

  • Prior experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG), food, agriculture, commodities or related industry

  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a multi-cultural and remote-hybrid environment

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data analysis into clear business results for a variety of audiences

  • Excellent communication, business acumen, and stakeholder relationship-building skills

  • Creative problem solving and out-of-the-box thinking to drive efficiencies

What will be your key responsibilities?

Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) Program: 70%

  • Be the first line of support between internal stakeholders and the external AI Forecasting platform and data providers to ensure the success of the AI cost forecasting platform.

  • Build AI models with the support of a third-party AI Platform provider using curated data sources and category knowledge to create accurate predictive models

  • Be able to interpret the models and concisely explain their outcomes and impact to the Mars commercial function

  • Prepare and give presentations to internal stakeholders, clearly communicating program progress and impact to the business

  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects within the AI Forecasting Platform

  • Help embed the AI platform into the sourcing strategy, along with other digital tools

  • Evaluate existing third-party data analysis techniques and scan the external market for best practices in AI/ML and forecasting tools

Data and Analytics support: 30%

  • Support Price Risk Management function, analysing commodity and ingredient costs using time series analysis, correlation tests, seasonality, cyclicality, etc.

  • Using internal and external data sources, develop S&D models and price analysis to drive future-oriented insights for key raw materials relating to animal proteins, speciality ingredients, and packaging categories

  • Provide data-driven insights and market trend analysis for global and regional category teams

  • Automate data sets and data visualisation using API’s, Excel, or other tools to generate efficiencies (Python, etc)
