Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Solution Engineer for SAP ABAP/FIORI is responsible for designing and maintaining SAP applications and user interfaces within the SAP landscape. The role focuses on delivering high-quality backend (ABAP) and frontend (Fiori/UI5) solutions that enhance business processes and user experience.
The role combines hands-on technical expertise with organizational responsibilities, ensuring efficient delivery, adherence to standards, and alignment with business and architectural requirements.
The ABAP Global Senior Solution Engineer plays a key role in driving technical excellence, SAP system stability, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with functional Solution Owners and Engineers as well as Architects.

Your Key Responsibilities: 

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to

  • Design, develop, and govern SAP ABAP (OO ABAP, CDS Views, AMDP, enhancements, BAdIs, user exits) and FIORI development standards valid for current SAP landscape. Review and optimize data models and interfaces. Ensure high performance and efficient database usage (HANA-optimized development).
  • Support integration with other SAP and non-SAP systems. Design and develop SAP Fiori applications using SAPUI5 / Fiori Elements.
  • Extend standard Fiori apps and develop custom applications where required.
  • Ensure responsive, intuitive, and user-friendly UI/UX design. Work with OData services and gateway for frontend-backend integration.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solution designs.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to ensure correct implementation of business logic. Contribute to architectural discussions and technical design decisions.
  • Ensure solutions align with SAP best practices and enterprise standards. Contribute to analysis and resolution of incidents related to ABAP and Fiori applications. Allocate tasks, manage workload, and ensure efficient use of supplier team capacity. Provide hands-on expertise in ABAP development (OO ABAP, CDS Views, AMDP, enhancements, BAdIs, user exits).
  • Guide the team on best practices for clean code, reusability, and performance optimization. Lead complex technical developments and problem resolution.

What you’ll bring to the role: 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with ABAP programming (OO ABAP, CDS, debugging).
  • Strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development. Experience with SAP Fiori / SAPUI5 development.
  • Knowledge of OData services and SAP Gateway. Experience in S/4HANA environments (preferred).
  • Understanding of SAP modules (e.g., FI, SD, MM, BW) is a plus. Experience in SAP Fiori / UI5 development.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of business processes. Communication and collaboration skills.
  • Quality and performance focus. Knowledge of SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform).
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.

  • Fluent English required (oral and written).
