Job Description

The Automation Global Operations Leader is responsible for developing and managing strategies to achieve operational excellence.  This includes delivery, safety, quality, and cost while driving continuous improvement activities across all manufacturing areas of the business. The position will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction and attainment of production and financial goals across all Global Operations locations.   

Description

  • Overall responsibility for Manufacturing activities across global business to enable a well-balanced strategy of regional and global manufacturing capabilities.
  • Translate the business strategy and objectives into a global operations strategy, aligning capacity, goals, and tactics with the objective of exceeding KPI targets.
  • Define and implement the best manufacturing practices to bring vision, strategy, policies, processes, and standardized procedures.
  • Ensure that manufacturing strategies and processes are in place to meet the business objectives and demands of the Nidec Group along with ensuring the employees have a clear understanding of the organization’s values and goals.
  • Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Establish monthly, quarterly and yearly targets (KPI’s) for operating units along with chairing monthly operations review sessions and regular GEMBA visits to sites.
  • Drive plant breakthrough operational performance by increasing productivity and reducing cost, lead-time and inventory while delivering a quality product complete and on-time to the customer.
  • Develop and champion risk mitigation strategies to guarantee continuity of operations and supply.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture through collaboration and communication regarding best practices knowledge sharing, internal and external benchmarking, talent development, and hands-on leadership.
  • Formulate and deploy strategies to optimize the cost performance of the plant through capital investment programs targeting the adoption of automation wherever appropriate.
  • Partner with finance on budget and ongoing cost control and proposed facility and operational capital investments in line with business objectives.
  • Evaluate, develop and deploy the organization structure and procedures such as decision-making regarding staffing and regional shifts in market demand and capability to supply.
  • Lead and motivate a high-performing, global operations team through overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their respective areas.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report to senior management on the state of operational affairs as well as lead the long-term strategic business planning as it relates to operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Operations Management, or above, is required. MBA is preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive Manufacturing experience, at least 10 years in a leadership role.  Experience in technical / industrial manufacturing preferred.
  • P&L management experience strongly preferred (proven strategic planning and budgeting experience - proven track record of achieving financial and operational results.)
  • Experience managing locations in the Americas and Europe.
  • Extensive knowledge of SIOP (S&OP) processes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including problem solving, team building, coaching, and the ability to motivate people.
  • Change Management: Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions; anticipates and copes effectively with the complexity of change.
  • Strong Communicator: Listens for meaning, translates concepts effectively, speaks and writes clearly and articulately.
  • Must be a highly results-oriented and customer-focused individual.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 50%+
