Databricks is seeking a highly strategic, agile, and result-driven senior executive of Media & Entertainment to lead our technology go-to-market (GTM) initiatives globally. This executive will play a crucial role in driving the execution of our GTM strategy, ensuring the successful commercialization of our technological products, fostering strategic partnerships to improve our market presence, and ensuring that Databricks wins in the market as the standard data platform in the media & entertainment industry. This includes positioning Databricks as the data and AI standard across studios, streamers, broadcasters, publishers, sports organizations, and the advertising ecosystem. A key focus will be deepening engagement with brand advertisers, agencies, and ad tech platforms, particularly where data and AI are transforming customer intelligence, campaign performance, and media monetization. If you have a passion for technology, a strong track record in media, and an innovative mindset, we'd love to meet you.

This role will report to our SVP of Go-To-Market but will interact day-to-day with global sales leadership.

The impact you will have:

  • Drive the strategic and operational execution of our GTM initiatives, focusing on our media & entertainment industries.
  • Build alignment with senior leaders across the go-to-market organization and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Field Engineering, Marketing, Partnerships, Product, and external partners to develop and implement effective GTM strategies and programs.
  • Build and maintain executive relationships with key stakeholders in the industry, including clients, partners, and suppliers, spanning both content and advertising value chains.
  • Develop and grow ecosystem partnerships across SIs, ISVs, and hyperscalers, with an eye on maturing whitespace markets and increasing long-term industry growth rates. This includes opportunities in ad tech, measurement, and data collaboration.
  • Create and publish thought leadership in journals and represent Databricks at key conferences and industry events across the broader media and advertising landscape.
  • Support the development of industry strategy and ongoing analysis of market trends and the competitive landscape to align our GTM strategies with the market dynamics and to capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to design, build and launch programs for the field teams to execute at scale. This includes content development for industry use cases, data sharing and Gen AI use cases supporting the Media and Advertising ecosystem.
  • Define key performance metrics and goals for media & entertainment GTM initiatives, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Travel globally for customer meetings, executive briefings, events and other engagements.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or other relevant post-graduate qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership role within the media & entertainment sector, with at least 5 years in a strategic GTM role.
  • Demonstrated success in launching technology products to market in a media & entertainment environment, including within advertising, ad tech, and/or agency ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of the data technology landscape and ability to integrate new technologies into media, entertainment, and advertising workflows.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across content, advertising, and technology ecosystems.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
