The Global Head of Enterprise Applications & Services (EAS) is a strategic leadership role responsible for delivering global and local technology solutions across Sandoz, overseeing and owning the end-to-end lifecycle of those. This role ensures that our business-as-usual (BAU) business-critical systems are aligned with corporate strategy and strategic business objectives, scalable, secure, and optimized for performance and user experience.

Job Description

Major Accountabilities

· In partnership with other Technology Leaders, develop and maintain a comprehensive strategy for enterprise application services that aligns with organizational goals and ensures scalability and security.

· Drive a centralized technology delivery model that ensures alignment, efficiency, and consistency across the organization.

· Oversee the strategic management and lifecycle of the enterprise application portfolio (ERP, CRM, HRIS, etc.).

· Manage the full application lifecycle for BAU applications: planning, development, deployment, and support.

· Monitor application performance and user feedback across regions to inform continuous improvement.

· Oversee vendor relationships and third-party integrations to support global functionality.

· Ensures successful project and program delivery

· Drive cross-functional collaboration (engineering, product, UX, QA, DevOps) to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing global applications.

· Drive adoption of agile methodologies and DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and improve quality.

· Develop and deploy BAU application changes partnership with SSTs and alignment with STEP and other Enterprise transformation programs

· Implement strategic measures to rigorously manage risks and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

· Enact Technology Department security and risk reduction programs.

· Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance with international standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO).

· Collaborate with SSTs, other Tech areas and large-scale business transformation projects (e.g. STEP) to gather requirements, prioritize features, and ensure localization and regulatory compliance.

· Promote a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork which facilitates robust collaboration across various departments within and beyond EAS and enhances the company's capacity for strategic decision-making and problem-solving.

· Act as a trusted advisor and partner with other Technology leaders and business partners across global, regional, and local levels to drive digital transformation and operational excellence.

Key Performance Indicators

· Project Completion: Timely and within-budget completion of projects.

· Stakeholder Feedback: Positive stakeholder feedback on application services.

· Compliance and Security: Adherence to compliance and security standards.

· Efficiency Improvements: Increased efficiency in resource utilization and project delivery.

· System Availability: Achieve and maintain high system uptime and availability, minimizing unplanned outages.

· Incident Management: Quick incident response and resolution times, meeting or exceeding SLAs.

· System Performance: Consistent improvement in system performance metrics, including response times and throughput.

· Optimize Cost Management: Achievement of a targeted percentage reduction in IT operational costs year-over-year, without impacting the quality of IT services and infrastructure.

· Risk Management and Compliance Adherence: Achieve a comprehensive compliance and risk management rating, measured by a reduction in identified risks and incidents and maintaining a 100% compliance rate with legal and regulatory requirements.

Ideal Background

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Technology Management, Business Administration, or a related field is highly desirable

Languages

  • Fluent English required (oral and written)

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a technology leadership role within a large, multinational corporation, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial capacity with strong leadership and communication skills to influence decisions and lead change across organizational boundaries.
  • Proven track record of success in leading large-scale Enterprise Application projects within complex environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise applications, cloud solutions, and emerging technologies.
  • Extensive experience in managing complex technology projects from conception through implementation, including managing budgets, resources, and timelines.
  • Strong background in vendor management, including negotiating contracts and managing service level agreements (SLAs) with technology providers.
  • Experience in regulatory and compliance environments, understanding the implications for technology solutions and data management in global markets.
