The GL Accountant manages financial close activities, ensures compliance with accounting standards, prepares reports, provides technical guidance, and identifies process improvements while collaborating on special projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Financial Close & Reporting
- Manage month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and analyzing variances.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and local accounting standards.
- Financial Analysis & Business Support
- Prepare monthly management reports and support financial analysis for business reviews, ad hoc requests, and interdepartmental projects.
- Participate in financial review meetings and conduct variance follow-ups to support data-driven decision-making.
- Policy, Compliance & Technical Guidance
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide technical accounting support and guidance to departments on revenue and expenditure classification.
- Process Improvement & System Optimization
- Identify opportunities to improve data integrity, accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and system efficiencies.
- Recommend enhancements to account structures, auditing procedures, and automation tools.
- Special Projects & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Support special projects and strategic finance initiatives as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial operations and reporting.
- Support ad hoc initiatives and collaborate with various teams to address evolving operational needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Four years’ experience and a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Intermediate level understanding of current US GAAP accounting.
- 2-4 years recent public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in NetSuite accounting software strongly preferred.
- Highly proficient in Excel.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, self-learning and adaptability skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks assigned, while ensuring the accuracy of work and completion within designated deadlines.
- Exhibit good decision-making skills and be a strong contributor to the accomplishment of goals and priorities.
- Be open to change to improve processes, strengthen controls and gain efficiencies.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Bi-Lingual in Mandarin Chinese is required.
