Scopely Explore is seeking a Gift Card Program Manager for a 8-12 month fixed term contract. As Gift Card Program Manager, you’ll help build and manage the operating foundation for Pokémon GO Gift Cards as an emerging monetization channel. This role will support day-to-day program execution across retail partners, vendors, Marketing, Business Development, Finance, Legal, Web Store/Product, and Player Experience. You’ll help clarify roles and ways of working, improve program visibility, support sales opportunities during key seasonal moments, and develop practical processes and reporting to support future growth planning.
We’re looking for a high-agency operator with experience managing retail, channel, promotional, payments, prepaid, digital goods, or partner programs. Direct gift card experience is a plus, but the strongest candidate will be someone who can bring clarity, structure, and momentum to a complex cross-functional program.

What You Will Do
  • Gift Card Program Operations
    • Coordinate day-to-day execution of the Pokémon GO Gift Card program across internal teams, external vendors, and retail partners.
    • Build and maintain practical program tools, including trackers, launch-readiness checklists, issue logs, ownership mapping, and recurring status updates.
    • Partner with Business Development and Marketing to support retailer launches, promotional opportunities, retail placement opportunities and requirements, partner deadlines, and holiday readiness.
    • Support planning and execution for gift card promotions, retailer activations, item add-ons, new retailer launches, and new market expansion.
  • Business Visibility, Forecasting, and Reporting
    • Partner with Finance, Data, Business Development, and Marketing to improve visibility into gift card performance, including sales, activations, redemptions, retailer performance, support contacts, and operational risks.
    • Document program performance and forecast assumptions ahead of planning milestones.
    • Translate inputs from multiple teams and evolving program details into clear summaries, recommendations, and decision points for leadership.
    • Support development of future investment scenarios, including retailer strategy, promotion opportunities, expected benefits, risks, and dependencies.
  • Player Experience and Risk Readiness
    • Partner with Player Support to ensure gift card workflows, policies, escalation paths, and training materials are ready for high-volume moments, new retailers, and promotions.
    • Help identify recurring player pain points and operational risks across physical cards, eGift cards, retailer activation, redemption, and promotional add-on experiences.
    • Coordinate with Trust & Safety, Legal, Finance, Web Store/Product, and vendor partners to surface fraud, compliance, reconciliation, or escalation concerns.
    • Use support insights and operational data to identify opportunities to reduce player friction and improve the purchase and redemption experience.
  • Collaborate for Success
    • Foster strong communication across Player Experience, Business Development, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Product/Web Store, Engineering, Data, external vendors, and retailer-facing partners.
    • Facilitate timely decisions by clarifying owners, surfacing blockers, and providing concise reporting on progress, risks, and open questions.
    • Balance pragmatic execution with scalable fundamentals, building only the process needed to support business goals and player outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience managing cross-functional retail, channel, promotional, payments, e-commerce, digital goods, partner operations, or consumer technology programs.
  • Proven ability to bring structure to ambiguous programs, manage multiple stakeholders, and drive execution without heavy process.
  • Experience working with commercial, marketing, finance, legal, product, operations, or support partners to execute shared goals.
  • Strong analytical and business judgment; able to document assumptions, work through ambiguity, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear status updates, trackers, decision documents, and leadership-ready summaries.
  • Strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.
Plus If…
  • Experience with gift card, prepaid card, stored value, voucher, promo code, loyalty, or digital entitlement programs.
  • Experience working with major retailers, retail media, channel marketing, MDF/co-op marketing, or retail promotional calendars.
  • Experience in gaming, mobile apps, digital commerce, web stores, or virtual currency programs.
  • Familiarity with vendor platforms such as Blackhawk, InComm, or similar gift card/payment providers.
  • Experience supporting holiday retail planning, promotional launches, or high-volume seasonal campaigns.
  • Experience working with international markets, especially Japan, LATAM, or APAC.
  • Enthusiastic interest in Scopely’s mission and Pokémon GO.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
