Reports to: Vice President of Strategy, Enterprise Operations
Location: Los Angeles, CA
CharterUP is seeking an experienced, on-the-ground General Manager to lead our most complex shuttle program: FlyAway, based in Los Angeles. FlyAway operates a 24/7, 365-day transit service between LAX and two locations—Union Station and Van Nuys—with over two dozen buses running every day. The GM will function as the CEO of the FlyAway program, responsible for day-to-day operations, client relationship management, vendor oversight, and internal team leadership.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires deep operational expertise, familiarity with public transit or shuttle environments, and the ability to work across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You’ll manage the day-to-day service, own the client relationship with Los Angeles International Airport (Los Angeles World Airports), coordinate with CharterUP headquarters, and ensure continuous service excellence across every lane of the program.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end program execution for FlyAway, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time operations across all routes and locations.
- Serve as the primary liaison to LAWA (Los Angeles World Airports), maintaining a strong working relationship with city partners and contract stakeholders.
- Lead and develop the FlyAway team, including a Director of Operations, on-site personnel, internal employees, and contractors; build a high-performance culture through training, structure, and accountability.
- Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships including motor coach operators, maintenance providers, dispatchers, and third-party technology vendors.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with CharterUP's strategy, finance, legal, ops, and marketing teams to ensure program compliance, reporting accuracy, and full operational support.
- Oversee program finances, including invoicing, budget tracking, and profitability metrics.
- Maintain and improve SLAs and KPIs, identifying and resolving operational inefficiencies before they impact service.
- Own project oversight by monitoring and tracking new initiatives, billing cycles, service metrics, and contract compliance.
- Report regularly on program performance, presenting data-driven updates and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
What You’ll Bring
- 8+ years experience in transportation, logistics, or shuttle operations, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead complex, round the clock programs with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in public transportation, shuttle operations, or contract-based transit services preferred.
- Strong understanding of fleet operations, vendor management, and service delivery standards.
- Executive presence and communication skills; comfortable representing CharterUP with municipal clients and large-scale partners.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills; thrives in ambiguity and leads with clarity.
- High operational acumen with experience managing compliance-heavy contracts.
Must be based in Los Angeles, CA and able to travel regularly between LAX, Van Nuys, and Union Station locations.
