Game Designers at Riot work to craft the systems, mechanics, and content that make up a deeply resonant player experience. We explore how to best push the boundaries of that experience in order to build new and engaging moments for players.
As a Game Designer III on the League of Legends team, you will be instrumental in helping to ensure that we are consistently delivering world class Cosmetics which combine strong creative vision, compelling mechanical features, and deep Champion fantasy resonance. We’re looking for an expert in creative content design, someone with deep passion for conceptualizing and delivering the most amazing versions of the incredible Champions in League of Legends. In this role you will work directly on new premium Cosmetics as well as building frameworks to be used by other designers and cross-discipline team members.
Key Responsibilities- Work to develop a vision and frameworks for how Game Design principles and best practices integrate into premium Cosmetics development
- Ideate and iterate on a wide range of premium Cosmetics in development
- Assess player needs and opportunities for improving the player experience through new Cosmetics options and opportunities
- Own and nurture the relationship between the League of Legends Game Design and Cosmetics teams
- Stakehold Game Design’s interests on a large number of Cosmetics in development
- Strong understanding of player motivations and audience types
- Proven ability to design compelling creative cosmetics
- Experience designing successful content for character-based games
- Has previously been the game design owner of multiple projects and delivered them successfully
- Experience communicating and expressing complex and nuanced designs in simple ways
- Builds strong relationships with non design disciplines to multiply their quality and output
- Minimum 5 years of experience in professional Game Design roles on shipped titles
- Strong understanding of LoL gameplay design principles and can apply them effectively
- Deep knowledge of LoL Champion roster and the motivations of different roles and classes
- Experience identifying fruitful content design opportunities
- Thorough documentation and requirements writing skills, to ensure engineers and other disciplines can execute with precision in complex spaces
