You will handle advanced technical builds including server-side GTM, GitHub-based deployment workflows, Shopify integrations, consent management frameworks, and programmatic GA4/GTM configuration using APIs.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Technical Implementation

  • Architect, build, and deploy server-side GTM solutions for scalable, privacy-compliant data collection.
  • Develop advanced GA4/GTM tracking setups, including custom HTML/JavaScript tags, dynamic dataLayer schema, and reusable GTM templates.
  • Implement robust integrations for Shopify, eCommerce platforms, CDPs, CRM systems, and marketing APIs.
  • Manage and optimize GitHub/GitLab workflows for GA HUB version control and CI/CD deployments.
  • Utilize the GA4 Measurement Protocol and Admin API to programmatically update GA4 and GTM configurations in bulk.

Consent & Compliance

  • Integrate GTM with cookie consent management systems including Transcend and OneTrust.
  • Ensure tagging and tracking adhere to GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.
  • Configure conditional firing rules and server-side filtering for consent-compliant tracking.

Quality Assurance & Performance

  • Create reusable, documented GTM templates and custom scripts with unit testing.
  • Optimize tracking performance to reduce site impact.
  • Debug complex front-end issues involving asynchronous data, SPA routing, and API-based events.
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving data discrepancies, optimizing data flows, and implementing scalable solutions to improve tracking infrastructure.

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with the Senior Data & Analytics Tech Lead to deliver the analytics roadmap without technical bottlenecks.
  • Provide advanced technical mentorship to junior GTM developers.
  • Collaborate with Label, Reporting, Marketing, Paid Media, and Data Engineering teams to ensure smooth technical delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years in web development, analytics engineering, or tagging architecture roles.
  • Expert-level GA4 and GTM (client-side and server-side) implementation experience.
  • Strong JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and GTM custom template development.
  • Proven experience with Git/GitHub workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Advanced debugging skills (Chrome DevTools, Omnibug, Observe Point, network inspection).
  • Hands-on experience integrating Shopify tracking and cookie consent frameworks (Transcend, OneTrust).
  • Practical use of GA4 Measurement Protocol and Admin API for automation at scale.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with multi-brand or multi-region analytics infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with the music, media, or entertainment industry.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
