About the Role

In this role, you’ll own key features of a consumer-friendly learning experience. As an early member of the engineering team you’ll play a critical role in setting the tone for Outsmart’s technical culture including setting standards for quality, scalability, and UX. You will work closely with Outsmart’s design team to ship and maintain state-of-the-art animations and interactive experiences. You’ll be expected to ship experiences that you would want to engage with. Our applications are built for both iOS and Android using React Native and Rive.

Responsibilities:

• Own API design and maintenance for all of Outsmart’s applications
• Build integrations, orchestration, and backend support for ML initiatives
• Work with DevOps to build and maintain a backend built to ultimately support 10M+ users
• Build telemetry layer to empower Product iteration
• Enforce uptime standards for production
• Own end-to-end testing for all features you work on
• Collaborate with the broader engineering team to establish technical culture and quality standards
• Conduct code reviews and participate in architecture design sessions

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience, with strong data engineering background
• Demonstrated experience scaling a fullstack system. 1M+ users preferred
• Experience interfacing with mobile
• Deep knowledge of performance tuning and mobile testing strategies
• Deep experience architecting SaaS infrastructure
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment
