As our Full-Stack JavaScript Engineer: Cloud & AI Solutions, you will help modernize our simulation software while your learning how our key simulation works. Our Java web application allows our Facilitators to lead a team through a complex business/leadership simulation. These facilitations happen all over the world, from Denver to Dubai, demonstrating to leaders at top companies how their leadership decisions can directly affect their businesses' outcomes.

After 20 years of development, our Java application continues to expand its functionality while simultaneously requiring refactoring and redevelopment. We are seeking a JavaScript engineer who is eager to learn and tackle unfamiliar challenges. While prior Java experience is not required, the role involves substantial refactoring of certain Java codebases, necessitating a willingness to learn and master Java. Your expertise in JavaScript and cloud technologies will be essential for success in this position as a major goal is to modernize the technology and to improve scalability and global delivery. This person will report directly to our Chief Technology & Product Officer (CTPO).


1st 90 Days & Focus
  1. Learn what our company does, how we do it, and how our technologies integrate into our business model.
  2. Review, understand and directly impact our current Java application, libraries and systems.
  3. Working with Architect, CTO and the development team, refactor and migrate select areas of our codebase into more modern technologies.
Beyond 90 Days
  1. Leverage key AWS technologies (for example serverless, and Lambda) in your solutions.
  2. Re-imagine and re-implement our front-end architectures.
  3. Contribute to the ongoing development of emerging technologies that will help to the company grow and expand into new markets.

Requirements
  • Willingness and interest in learning Java
  • Strong understanding of Javascript/TypeScript and the Vue.js framework.
  • Expertise in 1-2 of the following technologies: AWS Lambda, AppSync, DynamoDB, CloudFront and ECS.
  • Excellent debugging skills.
  • Good coding practices.
  • Java experience is a plus.
    Tools we use:
  • GitHub Issues, Slack, Teams. Currently migrating from Jenkins to GitHub Actions with ECS.
