Full Stack Engineer

We are a venture-backed insurtech looking for entrepreneurial and highly motivated people to help strengthen our foundation and set the stage for fast and efficient scaling.

As a Full Stack Developer, you'll play a crucial role in building and maintaining both our frontend and backend systems, helping to shape the future of our platform.

You should be authorized to work in the US/Canada (we cannot sponsor at this time), have a Bachelor's Degree and be comfortable working within the North American time zones. Principals only, no agencies or recruiters, please.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ability to design and implement features across our entire technology stack, from core backend services to frontend applications

  • Build and maintain scalable RESTful APIs

  • Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks

  • Write and maintain clean, efficient, and well-documented code

  • Drive improvements in engineering standards, tooling, and patterns across both frontend and backend systems

  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage across all layers of the application

  • Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack

  • Contribute to architectural decisions that will shape our platform's future

  • Push the product, processes, and platform forward through innovative solutions

Required Experience

  • 4+ years of professional experience building full stack web applications/services

  • Strong proficiency in both frontend and backend technologies:

    • Frontend: TypeScript, Vue 3, HTML5, CSS (Tailwind, shadcn)

    • Backend: Kotlin / Java, or experience with Scala, Swift, C#, etc

  • Experience building and maintaining scalable RESTful APIs

  • Understanding of distributed systems architecture and implementation

  • Proven track record of implementing responsive, performant web applications

  • Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including:

    • Automated testing

    • Code quality and review processes

    • System monitoring and alerting

    • Documentation

  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills across the full technology stack

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a bias toward action

  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AWS services (SQS, SNS, DynamoDB)

  • Single Page Application development

  • Knowledge of modern CI/CD practices

  • Understanding of AWS/GCP, Document storage engines, API/client generation

  • Experience with micro-services architecture
