About the role

At Gravity, our climate impact depends on building exceptional products that solve real customer problems. We're creating an engineering team everyone’s contributions directly impact our mission to reduce carbon emissions.

We value engineers who bring broad technical skills and collaborative mindsets to solve meaningful challenges. You'll have significant ownership over your projects, working closely with cross-functional teams while receiving the opportunities and support needed to grow your career.

Our engineering culture prioritizes thoughtful, maintainable solutions over short-term fixes. We believe the best technical decisions balance velocity with sustainability, creating systems that scale with our team and mission.

In your first 3 months, you'll:

  • Lead the development of impactful features from concept to production, with support from your amazing engineering colleagues

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Climate Strategy teams to shape solutions together

  • Contribute to planning discussions where your voice and perspective will influence our technical direction

  • Learn our customers challenges and deliver meaningful solutions to aid in their climate sustainability efforts

  • Help shape our engineering practices to ensure we’re building a technically strong, inclusive and sustainable foundation

What you'll bring:

  • A mindful and caring approach to addressing customer needs through technology

  • Experience translating business requirements into well-architected systems

  • Comfort working across the stack (frontend, backend, and ideally some infrastructure experience with AWS/Terraform)

  • A track record of delivering quality software from 0→1 in small, early team environments

  • An eye for design

Our commitment to you:

  • An inclusive culture where your voice will be actively sought and valued

  • Transparent career growth paths with regular feedback and development opportunities

  • Flexible work arrangements that respect your life outside of Gravity

  • Work that directly contributes to addressing climate change

  • Competitive salary, meaningful equity, comprehensive benefits, and flexible PTO

We believe people do their best work when they feel supported, included, and empowered. At Gravity, we're building a team where everyone can thrive while making a meaningful impact on our climate future.

Gravity is unable to sponsor visas at this time.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
