About Revel

At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world's most critical hardware is controlled—across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely.

Role Overview

As a full stack engineer at Revel, you will be responsible for owning product outcomes that require reasoning at every layer of the stack. You will need to manage complex workloads and design robust systems used to support critical, time-sensitive operations. The backend infrastructure compliments dynamic data-driven displays that will require frontend expertise and a strong sense of visual design.

You will play a key role in shaping greenfield projects and setting technical direction, particularly in frontend architecture. This role is ideal for engineers who can go deep on user-facing frontend systems, but are equally comfortable contributing across the application stack.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build polished, high-performance browser-based user interfaces

  • Build systems that support real-time or streaming data workflows

  • Lead development of greenfield projects and help define system architecture

  • Collaborate closely with operators to create intuitive, mission-critical tools

  • Improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability across the stack

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience (open to a varying of experience levels)

  • Strong expertise in modern frontend development, preferably React

  • Solid understanding of full-stack architecture and system design

  • Experience building and maintaining backend applications, especially web services

  • Ability to operate across multiple layers of the stack as needed

  • Familiarity with Linux platform

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset

Nice to Have

  • Frontend expertise (e.g., browser internals, video streaming platform, or low-latency browser-based games)

  • Experience with real-time systems or streaming APIs

  • Familiarity with systems programming languages (e.g., Rust)

  • Experience working on developer tools, data platforms, or simulation systems

  • Track record of leading or owning greenfield projects

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
