The Company

Swan is the USA’s #1 Bitcoin wealth platform for families and businesses. We hire passionate Bitcoiners who want to work with a self-motivated and fully distributed startup team.

The Role

Swan is seeking an ownership-driven Software Engineer that enjoys working from idea to implementation. You will build and extend internal and customer-facing dashboards that unify market data, on-chain analytics, and Swan’s proprietary metrics. You will be part of the larger Swan engineering team but work independently on various stand alone wealth platform and institutional products ranging from portfolio modeling to market analytics. Expect to work end-to-end: data ingestion, API design, backend services, and polished UIs.

You must be adept with modern AI tooling and ready to deliver quickly. An eye for design is important. You must at the very minimum be able to utilize AI tooling to generate high quality user experiences.

Your responsibilities
  • Design and deliver a modular dashboard platform that ingests data from a variety of market APIs and Swan’s internal services.
  • Maintain, rewrite, or reimplement existing financial modeling tools (Nakamoto Portfolio).
  • Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and documentation across the team.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and other developers.
Skills and experience that will help you succeed
  • 5+ years of professional software development, with at least 2 years building data-rich dashboards for fintech or similar.
  • Strong backend skills: TypeScript/Node.js (preferred) or similar, SQL, data modeling, REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Modern frontend expertise: React + Next.js (or equivalent), component libraries, data-viz frameworks, responsive design.
  • Deep commitment to clean architecture, automated testing, and clear documentation.
  • Self-driven and well organized in project and product management. Able to take complex projects from idea to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent asynchronous communication in a high bandwidth remote environment.
  • A basic understanding of financial data, Bitcoin blockchain analytics, equities, Bitcoin treasury companies, and capital markets is a plus, but not required.
  • Adept with modern AI tooling and ready to deliver quickly
  • US timezones only
  • Compensation for this role will be based on location and experience, and may include base salary, equity, and benefits
Remote pay range (based on location and experience)
$100,000$200,000 USD

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
