Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

Key responsibilities:
  • Working within the Small Molecule Pharmaceutics Group, this position will carry out screening, discovery, characterization, and development of small molecule solid forms at the laboratory scale for timely delivery of early and mid-phase small molecule development candidates in the client pipeline
  • Designing and carrying out crystallization experiments of small molecule development candidates
  • Analysis of solid materials using sophisticated analytical instrumentation
  • Operation, care and maintenance of solid-state laboratory instrumentation
  • Carrying out successful interactions with partners of the client and externally
  • Documenting results and conclusions via electronic lab notebook entries and development reports
  • Learning and successfully interacting cross-functionally with other Chemistry Manufacturing & Controls (CMC) functions such as process chemistry and analytical development
  • Keeping current with developments in the field as reported in peer-reviewed journals and other media
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0-2 years’)

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A working knowledge of techniques used in solid-state characterization, such as powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), polarized light microscopy (PLM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, particle size, and surface area analysis
  • A working knowledge of thermodynamics, solubility, and crystallization concepts is highly desired
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $26.51–$33.50.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
