We are seeking a Frontend Engineer skilled in React and NextJS with demonstrable experience to develop our web portal and support the development of our browser extension. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining user-facing features that enhance user workflows. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate designs into high-quality code, optimize performance, and ensure seamless integration between web applications and Chrome extension components.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and Maintain Web Interfaces: Build responsive, accessible, and performant UI components using React and NextJS, translating UX/UI designs into production-ready code.
Chrome Extension Development: Design, implement, and maintain Chrome extension features including background scripts, content scripts, popup pages, and options pages. Ensure compatibility with Manifest V3 and adhere to Chrome Extension APIs and security best practices.
Integration with Web Applications: Integrate the extension with backend services and web applications via RESTful APIs or WebSockets, ensuring secure and performant data exchange between the extension and main web app.
Performance Optimization: Profile and optimize both web application and extension to minimize load times, memory usage, and battery impact. Leverage code-splitting, lazy loading, and efficient state management to deliver smooth experiences.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Write unit and integration tests for React components and extension logic. Employ automated testing frameworks and manual testing to verify functionality across different browser versions.
Collaboration and Code Reviews: Participate in design discussions, peer code reviews, and agile ceremonies. Share knowledge of best practices in frontend architecture, React patterns, and extension development.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement logging and monitoring for extension usage and web app performance. Diagnose and resolve bugs related to UI, extension APIs, browser compatibility, and security issues.
Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for extension setup, configuration, and deployment processes, as well as React component libraries and coding conventions.
Stay Updated: Keep abreast of emerging web standards, React ecosystem updates, and browser extension platform changes to proactively improve the product.
Experience with React & NextJS: Minimum of 3 years building production-grade web applications using React (hooks, context, router) and TypeScript for type-safe development.
Web Technologies: Strong HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors or utility-first frameworks like Tailwind CSS), and JavaScript fundamentals. Familiarity with modern bundlers (Webpack, Vite) and build pipelines.
State Management & Data Fetching: Experience with state management libraries (Redux, MobX, React Query, etc.) and patterns for scalable applications. Comfortable integrating RESTful or GraphQL APIs within React and extensions.
Testing Frameworks: Proficiency in testing tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, or similar, covering both web UI components and extension-specific logic.
Version Control: Strong Git skills, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code review practices.
Security and Privacy Awareness: Understanding of extension security considerations (CSP, permissions minimization), web security (XSS, CSRF), and best practices for handling user data.
Cross-Browser Considerations: While primary focus is Chrome, familiarity with extension differences in other Chromium-based browsers and potential cross-browser packaging.
Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication to collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders.
UI/UX Sensibility: Strong eye for design, accessibility (ARIA standards), and usability to deliver intuitive extension interfaces and web components.
Chrome Extension Experience : Hands-on experience developing Chrome extensions, including proficiency with Manifest V3, extension lifecycle (background, content, popup), and Chrome APIs (runtime, storage, tabs).
Experience with Browser Automation/Parsing: Familiarity with parsing web pages, scraping techniques within extension context, or integrating OCR/document parsing features.
Familiarity with CI/CD: Experience setting up automated build and deployment pipelines for web applications and publishing/updating Chrome extensions via CI.
Performance Profiling Tools: Proficiency using browser devtools and profiling tools to identify bottlenecks in UI rendering and extension execution.
Open-Source Contributions: Contributions to React libraries, extension frameworks, or relevant open-source projects, demonstrating community engagement.
Knowledge of Other Frameworks: Exposure to alternative frontend frameworks (Vue, Angular) or experience with mobile hybrid apps as a bonus.
