About Us

Chainlink Labs is the primary contributing developer of Chainlink, the decentralized computing platform powering the verifiable web. Chainlink is the industry-standard platform for providing access to real-world data, offchain computation, and secure cross-chain interoperability across any blockchain. Chainlink Labs helps power verifiable applications for banking, DeFi, global trade, and gaming by collaborating with some of the world’s largest financial institutions, notably Swift, DTCC, and ANZ. Chainlink Labs also works with top Web3 teams, including Aave, Compound, GMX, Maker, and Synthetix. Chainlink Labs was ranked in Newsweek’s 100 Most Loved Workplaces 2023 in both the United States and United Kingdom.

About the Role

We are looking for a UX Design Engineer with a passion for building polished, innovative user interfaces and design systems. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product managers to craft solutions that are both visually stunning and technically sound. This role requires someone who combines a strong eye for design detail with the front-end engineering skills to execute those ideas at a high level of quality.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and implement new features from idea to release.

  • Build reusable UI components and design patterns, ensuring consistency across products.

  • Work within (and help shape) a robust design system, contributing to shared components and documentation.

  • Rapidly prototype new features and interactions (e.g., AI-driven components or web3 interactions) to validate ideas and inform the product roadmap.

  • Uphold high standards of quality by ensuring performance, accessibility, and cross-browser/cross-device compatibility.

  • Maintain clean, efficient code in Git, and stay up to date with emerging front-end and design technologies.

Must Have

  • React & TypeScript: Proven experience developing production-grade applications.

  • ShadCN JS framework & Tailwind CSS: Solid understanding of utility-first styling and component-driven development.

  • Storybook: Proficiency in creating, documenting, and testing UI components.

  • Attention to Detail & Polish: A strong eye for design details, interaction nuances, and visual consistency.

  • Git: Comfortable with version control and collaborative workflows.

Should Have

  • 5+ Years of Experience: Depth and quality of front-end or design engineering experience is strongly preferred.

  • Next.js: Familiarity with server-side rendering, dynamic routes, and overall Next.js ecosystem.

  • Interest in Web3/Blockchain/Crypto: Curiosity about or previous exposure to decentralized technologies.

  • Rapid Prototyping Skills: Ability to quickly spin up interactive demos, especially AI-driven or otherwise experimental features.

  • Figma Basics: Experience collaborating in design tools, providing design feedback, and extracting specs.

  • Systems Thinking: Experience building or contributing to design systems in a product environment.

Nice to Have

  • Wagmi, Ethers, Viem: Knowledge of popular web3 libraries and tooling.

  • Webflow: Familiarity with building and maintaining visually rich marketing or documentation sites.

About You

  • You value iteration and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • You are a systems thinker, able to see how small design decisions affect the bigger picture and vice versa.

  • You communicate effectively with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to arrive at thoughtful solutions.

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and are comfortable advocating for best practices and overall quality.

  • You’re excited by emerging trends—be it AI, web3, or the next wave of web technologies.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
