About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is seeking a Frontend Engineer to help build enterprise-scale capabilities that empower the world’s largest organizations to adopt feature management best practices. This team is focused on enabling scalable, standardized release processes through automation, governance, and visibility—transforming how software is delivered at enterprise scale. As a Frontend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and building intuitive, high-quality user interfaces that help teams manage complexity, gain visibility into their releases, and ensure best practices are followed across the organization.

We’re looking for someone who cares deeply about the developer and customer experience, loves building UI that scales across a large user base, and thrives in a collaborative, product-minded engineering environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to build user-facing features that support automation, standardization, and release governance.

  • Build scalable, performant, and accessible UI components in our design system using React and TypeScript.

  • Contribute to the architecture and technical decisions that shape our frontend systems.

  • Improve the usability and reliability of key product surfaces such as workflows, dashboards, approval systems, and integrations with enterprise systems.

  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code, and participate in code reviews to uphold a high bar for quality.

  • Partner with support and customer-facing teams to understand customer pain points and turn them into elegant solutions.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks like React.

  • Strong understanding of frontend engineering fundamentals including state management, API integration, component composition, and performance optimization.

  • Familiarity with TypeScript, CSS-in-JS, and accessibility best practices.

  • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally and communicating effectively in a remote environment.

  • A growth mindset and a desire to learn, iterate, and improve the team and product.

  • Enthusiasm for improving how software is delivered at scale—whether through automation, standardization, or empowering engineering teams with better tools and practices.

Pay:

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level P3:

  • Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle - $167,000 - $229,000**

About LaunchDarkly:

Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare "big-bang" technology migrations.

The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:

  • Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages
  • Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts
  • Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize
  • Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types
  • Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability

At LaunchDarkly, we believe in the power of teams. We're building a team that is humble, open, collaborative, respectful and kind. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
