Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Client and Partner Technologies (CPT) team builds tools and services to scale the Netflix application platform to over half a billion devices while maintaining high quality standards. The Ecosystem and Operational Insights team within CPT is looking for a senior front-end engineer to help us revamp our suite of developer productivity tools.

This team accelerates the software developer lifecycle at Netflix by building tools and services that improve feedback loops and enable confident code delivery. We work closely with our device labs which span iOS, Android, TV and web platforms, to provide reliable, real-world validation at scale.

We are looking for versatile specialists who think beyond implementation details, who can empathize with fellow developers, challenge assumptions, and help shape the "why" behind what we build.  You should bring a strong perspective on product direction and design, not just execution, and be comfortable working at the intersection of user experience, design, and modern web application development.

You will excel if you are comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with innovation, can deliver scalable technical solutions, remove technical debt, make strategic decisions for long-term effectiveness, and approach problems with a curiosity-driven lens.
What you will do:

  • Drive new technical solutions across teams, from system design to deployment
  • Design, build, and refine intuitive data visualization charts and performant user interfaces, with a focus on simplifying and streamlining the developer experience by leveraging analytical insights
  • Revamp and update existing tools and services for integration into developer workflows
  • Work with our product manager, design team, and stakeholders across Netflix to gather insights, identify opportunities, and define solutions that will scope and shape our product decisions
  • Operate in a cross-functional and dynamic environment where you will collaborate and learn with stunning colleagues from a variety of technical domains and backgrounds to achieve the common goal of entertaining the world

What we are looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience in a software development role
  • Demonstrable technical expertise to critically evaluate front-end architectures and user experience flows, form well-reasoned recommendations for the best path forward, and navigate ambiguity by iteratively refining solutions based on stakeholder feedback and evolving requirements
  • Deep expertise in modern front-end development, with a focus on building scalable, maintainable, and high-quality web applications
  • Experience with at least several UI frameworks
  • Deep experience with React & GraphQL
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Experience collaborating closely with designers to translate UX/UI designs into delightful user experiences
  • Exposure to back-end APIs is a plus
  • Ability to learn and leverage in-house software frameworks/components/services to build scalable solutions
  • Outstanding communicators who are curious, flexible, and selfless

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
