The Role

As a Front-End Engineer at Striveworks, you’ll be challenged—and trusted—on day one to work directly with our data scientists and software engineers to build an analytics platform that delivers impact for a diverse customer base. You’ll work on designing and implementing UI/UX components for the platform. You’ll coordinate with the rest of the team that is working on the data science, data engineering, and infrastructure of this system, so a passion for collaborative and multidisciplinary problem solving is essential.

You’re right for this opportunity if you enjoy feeling a sense of ownership while contributing to the overall health of the application. If you want to help create everything from feature inception to implementation, then this is a role for you.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Managing and solving complex user behavior problems through team discussion, design, and implementation of solutions
  • Automating testing for regressions and releases
  • Triaging and prioritizing client issues and features
  • Introspecting on team processes to build more efficient pipelines (and fewer meetings)

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000–$135,000/year. Striveworks’ total compensation package includes a competitive base salary and annual performance-based equity grants and cash bonus.

This position offers a flexible hybrid/on-site work environment at our office in northwest Austin, TX.

The Right Fit

We spend a lot of time during our hiring process talking about shared values.

Why? We passionately believe that fostering an environment where people can self-actualize and pursue greatness is the best way to achieve our individual and collective goals.

What does this mean for you? We want to create an environment where you can thrive and achieve your goals, where you know the team shares your vision, and where you make and accept decisions for the team with humility. At Striveworks, we want your say/do ratio to be 1, and we want you to know that being part of a top-tier team means that there is no smartest person in the room. If that makes sense, we’re already on the same page.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree with STEM concentration and 2+ years’ work experience, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with UI/UX, knowledge of design patterns, and experience designing and styling applications with CSS
  • Experience building applications with React
  • High level of comfort with TypeScript
  • Experience working with REST APIs
  • Understanding of modern distributed code versioning tools (e.g., Git)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and unit tests (e.g., Playwright, Jest, etc.)
  • Ability to build software using cloud-based services (in any cloud platform)
  • Skilled in component frameworks like Material UI
  • Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be U.S. persons (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or Green Card holder)
The Wish List

We’re very interested in candidates who possess the above qualifications, and we appreciate and consider the addition of:

  • Familiarity with GraphQL, Next.js, Node.js
  • Excellence with UI type safety using TypeScript
  • Proficiency with other libraries such as React Query/TanStack, Axios, Context API, Styled Components
  • Proficiency with Python/Golang
  • Experience deploying applications in Kubernetes/Helm
  • Ability to deploy applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes
  • Passion for discussing and creating mocks in Figma; working directly with design to create the best user experience
The Benefits
  • Medical/dental/vision insurance
  • Voluntary life, long-term disability, accident, and hospital indemnity insurance
  • HSA and FSA (including dependent care FSA) plans
  • 401(k) plan
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid parental leave

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
