About the Role
We’re looking for experienced freelance writers to create Pro Spotlight features — engaging stories that highlight home professionals and their projects. These articles appear as Houzz sponsored stories and are designed to inspire homeowners while promoting the work of our pro community. We are looking for a candidate that can commit to at least one weekly interview slot for a minimum contract of three months.

- A brief introduction and 2-3 links to samples of your writing, preferably in design or home-related topics (introduction and links can be submitted in the 'Additional Information' box within the application)
What You'll Do
- Review a pre-interview form completed by a Houzz Pro (if available) to prep for each interview
- Conduct a 30- to 60-minute phone interview with a Houzz Pro to determine the story angle, collect tips and gather details about their business and projects
- Select high-quality images from the pro’s Houzz Profile to complement the story
- Write an engaging 600-700 word story that aligns with Houzz editorial standards
- Format the story as a Houzz Ideabook and submit the draft to your editor to review
At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have
- A professional freelance writer with experience in lifestyle, design or architecture content
- Able to conduct thoughtful interviews and develop compelling angles from raw material
- Skilled at transforming conversations into well-structured, readable content
- Comfortable working with photos and uploading content into a content management system (Houzz Ideabook interface)
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, friendly, polished and professional in communication
Ideally, You'll Also Have
- Familiarity with the Houzz platform
- Background in interior design, architecture or home improvement writing
- Experience writing for editorial or sponsored content
