Purpose

We’re looking for an experienced Freelance Creative Director with a strong background in 360° entertainment marketing and experiential to join our team for a short-term pitch for an entertainment brand. This person will help lead creative development, with a particular focus on big, attention-grabbing ideas that can live across experiential, social, digital, partnerships, and other consumer touchpoints.

The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker who knows how to build a campaign around a strong central idea and translate it into experiences that feel culturally relevant, strategically grounded, and genuinely exciting for fans.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead creative concepting and development for a 360° entertainment marketing pitch, with experiential playing a key role.
  • Translate big campaign platforms across live experiences, activations, stunts, partnerships, social, digital, OOH, and other extensions.
  • Work closely with creative, strategy, production, and account teams to take ideas from initial concept through pitch-ready execution.
  • Help shape creative presentations, including writing, refining, and clearly articulating concepts for a client-facing pitch deck.
  • Identify opportunities to build fandom, cultural conversation, and earned attention around an entertainment brand.
Required Skills
  • 8-12 years of creative experience, ideally within an advertising, entertainment marketing, experiential, or integrated agency environment.
  • Previous experience developing campaigns for entertainment clients is required, including film, television, streaming, gaming, or adjacent entertainment brands.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates real-world experiential executions is required. We want to see work that has moved beyond the deck and into physical spaces, activations, events, installations, stunts, or fan experiences.
  • Strong experience developing integrated/360° campaigns that extend a central creative idea across multiple channels.
  • A proven ability to develop culturally relevant, fan-first ideas that generate excitement beyond traditional advertising.
  • Strong conceptual, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Comfortable working quickly and collaboratively in a fast-moving pitch environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
