JOB DESCRIPTION:

CARSTAR, North America’s largest multi-shop operator (MSO) network of independently owned collision repair facilities, is seeking a Director of Development to help accelerate our growth. This role is responsible for expanding the CARSTAR network by engaging independent collision center operators and MSOs, guiding them through the process of joining our franchise system, and ensuring they are set up for long-term success.

The ideal candidate will have direct, hands-on experience owning or running a collision repair facility, a strong understanding of the collision industry, and the ability to take a consultative approach with prospective franchise partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Identify, cultivate, and secure new franchise partners, including independent shop owners and regional MSOs.
  • Consultative Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to shop operators, clearly communicating the benefits of CARSTAR’s network, systems, and resources.
  • Pipeline Management: Drive leads from initial contact through signed franchise agreements, collaborating with operations, legal, and onboarding teams.
  • Market Expansion: Develop and execute strategies to target high-priority markets and growth opportunities.
  • Relationship Building: Represent CARSTAR at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to build strong relationships in the collision repair community.
  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams (operations, marketing, integration) to ensure seamless onboarding and transition for new franchisees.

Qualifications

  • Required: Previous ownership, general management, or senior leadership experience within a collision repair center or MSO.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of shop operations, financial drivers, and growth challenges.
  • Proven consultative selling or business development skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Preferably based in the Central U.S. for ease of travel (50%).

Why Join CARSTAR?

  • Be part of the most recognized brand in the collision repair industry.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of independent operators and MSOs as they join North America’s leading collision repair network.
  • Competitive compensation package, performance incentives, and comprehensive benefits

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
