About the Role:

We are building a modern legal operation powered by AI and technology-first workflows. We are hiring a Founding Paralegal to support high-volume contracting and operational functions across a growing commercial client base. This role is designed for someone who is comfortable operating at the intersection of law, operations, technology, and administrative support.

You will handle day-to-day contract review and execution while actively supporting the broader operational needs of the team. This is a hands-on startup role where speed, adaptability, and ownership matter. You will not just provide traditional paralegal support—you will help shape how legal and operational work is done.

This role offers meaningful mentorship from senior legal leadership, exposure to diverse business functions, and the opportunity to grow with an AI-enabled legal operation from the ground up.

  • Support review of commercial agreements, including:
    • Vendor and supplier agreements

    • Master Services Agreements and Statements of Work
  • Use proprietary legal technology to manage document workflow with speed and consistency
  • Flag potential legal issues for attorney review
  • Maintain organized contract files and databases

Administrative and Operational Support

  • Coordinate scheduling, meetings, and calendaring
  • Manage filing and documentation systems
  • Assist with data entry, reporting, billing, and basic data analysis
  • Support recruiting and onboarding processes
  • Help implement and optimize operational systems
  • Assist with cross-functional projects as needed

AI and Technology Adoption

  • Actively use AI tools in daily contract review and workflow execution
  • Provide feedback on AI tools and technology platforms
  • Help test new operational systems and processes
  • Document best practices and standard operating procedures

What We're Looking For

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • 1-5 years of paralegal, legal assistant, or relevant operational experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously

Startup Mindset and Culture Fit

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with appropriate guidance
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills
  • Is adaptable and comfortable with change
  • Communicates proactively and effectively

Why You'll Want This Role

  • Mentorship from experienced legal professionals
  • Hands-on experience with cutting-edge legal AI technology

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
