About Eventual

Eventual is a well-funded, seed-stage fintech startup on a mission to improve American housing unaffordability. We're starting with a narrow but high-impact niche: insurance. With insurance prices up dramatically over the last five years, home insurance represents a new corner of housing ripe for innovation.

Eventual tackles insurance unaffordability by building the world's most accurate AI insurance prediction models, trained on tens of millions of US homes insurance policy renewals. This prediction model enables us to offer a 3-year price guarantee for home insurance; we simply reimburse homeowners if their insurance gets too expensive in the future. Homeowners are finding immense value from this multi-year predictability, with customers in 37 US states and thousands of distributors (insurance agents) today.

We’re a small, high-energy team of 12 professionals building in-person in NYC and LA with expertise from Blackstone, Citadel, Waymo, Google, and early-stage fintech startups. We’ve raised $7.5m and our revenue is growing exponentially.

You’ll be the founding member of our operations team and help us build a path to serving our customers as we 10x and 100x our business. We move with urgency, test ideas quickly, have high attention to detail, and a lot of grit given the complexity of building a business like this. We are in-person only and full-time in Los Angeles (Santa Monica) or New York City (Tribeca).

Things you might work on immediately

There's a lot happening behind the scenes at Eventual. Below are the categories that an ops role might own, depending on the candidate's skillset and interest:

  • Finance ops: Presentations and financial models for equity fundraising and risk-transfer.

  • Marketing ops: Refine product messaging and positioning. Manage how it feels for customers and distributors to interact with us. Improve customer service scalability using technology. Own the newsletter for our distribution network of thousands of insurance agents. Lead strategy, budgeting, and execution of sponsorship, direct mail and conference marketing. Improve revenue operations to track, verify, and report performance.

  • Corporate ops: Improve how Eventual itself runs. Higher-quality documentation & performance measurement. Hiring & onboarding logistics of new employees. Structure the team around product pods as we launch new lines of business (very soon!). Use technology to improve our overall leverage.

You might be a fit if

  • You're the best Excel and Powerpoint person at your company: you previously built financial models to determine the market valuation of businesses or real estate.

  • You're innately knowledgeable and curious about startups and have strong opinions about most things on earth.

  • You have a relentless focus on continuous learning and an ability to question the status quo.

  • You have extremely strong communication skills and confidence presenting complex concepts to industry experts.

  • You’re comfortable with direct feedback in a high-pressure, high-growth environment.

  • You’re self-motivated and energized by building something new in a legacy industry like insurance and housing.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
