About Optexity

Optexity is a product-driven research lab building clinical reasoning and computer use models on data no other lab can reach. We deploy directly inside clinics and hospitals — including systems with no APIs, using integration infrastructure we've built and open-sourced — and in return become their preferred partner. That gives us proprietary clinical reasoning trajectories from practicing physicians, and a feedback loop between real patient encounters, our models, and the products built on top of them.

We're a small, fast-moving founding team with multiple published papers in NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR etc and background from Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, CMU, IIT.

We are backed by world-class investors and leaders like Jeff Dean, Neotribe VC, PearVC, Together Fund and Zapier Fund.

How we work
  • Customer obsession — we start with the customer and work backwards

  • Intellectual honesty — ideas matter more than titles; we communicate directly and assume good intent, even in disagreement

  • Bias for action — we build and learn with customers rather than debate in the abstract

  • Extreme ownership — we own outcomes, not just tasks, and see problems through

About the role

This is not an EA role, and not a narrow sales or marketing role — it's a hands-on operator role for someone who can take an ambiguous business problem, structure it, and drive it to a result, working directly with the founders.

Why this role exists

Partnerships, developer community, recruiting, and market research all sit on the founders' plates today, alongside product and engineering. We need someone to own that surface area — not run a fixed playbook, but build one as they go.

What you'll do

  • Build relationships with private equity firms active in healthcare — especially those owning multi-location clinics or hospital groups — as a channel into the market

  • Develop long-term relationships with hospitals and clinics; understand their workflows and pain points before and during deployment

  • Build a developer-adoption strategy: engage directly with developers building in health AI, learn what they need, and turn that into adoption

  • Source, screen, and run early conversations with candidates for open roles

  • Run market research to find new avenues for growth and partnership

  • Represent Optexity at industry events, conferences, and developer communities — and convert conversations into pipeline

  • Own ambiguous, cross-functional projects that need speed, judgment, and persistence — whatever matters most that week

What we look for

  • Comfortable with a wide-open mandate — this role looks different in month six than on day one

  • Strong communication and relationship-building, with real follow-through

  • Excellent research, synthesis, and structured thinking

  • Operates in ambiguity without waiting for perfect instructions

  • Willing to do unglamorous, high-value work

  • Genuine interest in healthcare workflows, and the ability to learn the space fast

Nice to have

  • Venture capital or business/strategy team experience

  • Prior healthcare exposure

  • Existing relationships with developers in health AI

  • Experience in fast-moving startups

What you get

  • Direct, daily work with the founders, plus exposure to board and investor conversations

  • True zero-to-one scope — company-building, not function-executing

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
