We're driven by a desire to transform and modernize what's antiquated, automate the manual, and solve real-world problems through innovative connectivity solutions. As a testament to our success, we're proud to stand as a financially stable and profitable company. Our robust profitability allows us not only to invest in pioneering technologies but also to foster an environment of continuous learning and growth for our team.

Our collective vision is a world where borderless connectivity fuels limitless innovation. By joining us, you can be part of laying the foundations for this interconnected future. We're currently seeking passionate individuals who are excited about the opportunity to contribute to an industry-shaping company while growing their own skills and careers.

The Role

Telnyx is powering the next generation of real-time communications — from global telephony and messaging to AI-driven voice assistants and WebRTC infrastructure. We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to embed directly with customers and bring Telnyx technology to life in production environments. You’ll combine software engineering expertise with customer-facing skills to architect, build, and deploy solutions that showcase the best of the Telnyx platform.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with enterprise customers to understand their communications workflows, AI use cases, and integration needs.
  • Design and deliver custom implementations using AI Voice Assistant Tools, Telnyx APIs (Voice, Messaging, Fax, Wireless, etc.), and WebRTC
Lead proof-of-concepts, pilots, and production deployments, ensuring technical success and measurable business outcomes.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to provide feedback that shapes Telnyx’s roadmap (e.g., Voice AI, in-portal assistant builder, BYOC trunking).
Troubleshoot and optimize real-time communication solutions (SIP, RTP, Opus/PCMU codecs, SRTP/TLS)
  • Deliver clear technical documentation, runbooks, and handoffs for long-term maintainability.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and technical champion, ensuring customers unlock full value from the Telnyx platform.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical consulting.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Node.js, Go).
  • Hands-on experience working with APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native deployments, serverless functions
  • Familiarity with SIP, WebRTC, or real-time voice/messaging technologies.
  • Strong communication skills — able to distill complex technical topics into actionable business outcomes.
  • Comfortable debugging ambiguous problems in unfamiliar environments.
  • Willingness to travel and work directly with customers (10–30%).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience integrating or deploying AI voice assistants, speech-to-text, or LLM-based conversational systems.
  • SQL + relational DBs (Postgres, Oracle, MySQL)
  • ETL / data wrangling: transformations, cleaning, connecting disparate sources
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Previous work in telecom, CPaaS, or high-growth SaaS environments.
  • Comfort working in fast-moving, customer-first contexts with a strong sense of ownership.
  • IAM, encryption, audit logging

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
