Why Clarium?

Our mission is to accelerate healthcare transformation through our AI-powered platform. We strive toward a future where hospitals are at the cutting edge of technology, operations and efficiency. Healthcare workers are inundated with endless tasks, manual processes and often unintuitive tools. Clarium is transforming healthcare by empowering providers with AI-powered software with intelligent workflow automation and actionable insights.

We envision a future where all hospitals leverage our collaborative data platform to automate their daily operational and administrative tasks, only surfacing high complexity issues that truly require their expertise.

We're backed by some of the biggest and most innovative investors in the world including: Northzone, General Catalyst, AlleyCorp, 1984 Ventures, Alumni Ventures, and others.

Role Overview

We’re hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (Data) to own the technical side of customer data integrations for hospital systems and their suppliers. This role is for a strong, hands-on engineer who enjoys working directly with customers, navigating ambiguous systems, and owning production data workflows end to end.

You’ll work directly with customers to understand their systems and bring integrations into production, designing reliable ingestion and transformation workflows along the way. You’ll partner closely with data engineers and product managers to iterate on customer data feeds that power end-user features, ensure integrations are correct and production-ready, and build reusable connectors and internal tools that make future integrations faster and more scalable.

This role goes beyond traditional backend engineering. Success requires comfort with ambiguity, unfamiliar systems, and frequent customer interaction, along with full ownership of production systems. If you enjoy building robust systems and staying close to the customer problems they solve, this role is a strong fit.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional experience in an engineering role

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL

  • Experience building and operating data pipelines

  • Experience with strong engineering practices including building production grade systems, robust ETL pipelines, CI/CD, and monitoring

  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms

  • Ability to work directly with clients to gather requirements, troubleshoot, and deliver integrations

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience integrating with

    • ERP systems such as Workday, Oracle Cloud, Infor Lawson, PeopleSoft, or similar

    • Inventory Management systems such as ParEx and TecSys

    • EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner

  • Experience in healthcare

  • Experience in supply chain operations

You're a great fit if:

  • You enjoy working directly with customers, leading technical discussions, and translating real-world workflows into reliable data integrations.

  • You’re a self-starter who’s comfortable with ambiguous requirements and unfamiliar systems, and you know how to unblock yourself when things get messy.

  • You take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks, and you jump in where needed to support customer integrations and the broader team, even when it’s not “your job.”

  • You thrive in a close-knit data team, value low-ego collaboration, and work effectively with data engineers, product managers, and customers.

  • You make thoughtful technical tradeoffs, balancing immediate customer needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.

  • You value production quality, including testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and building systems that are reliable and maintainable in the real world.

Note: This role is not a fit for engineers seeking purely backend or internal-only work, analysts or BI-focused roles without experience building production systems, or those who prefer working independently over close, team-first collaboration.

What You Get At Clarium

  • Incentive Stock Options proportionate to salary

  • Fully remote work

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Top-tier health, vision, and dental benefits

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
